CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 General description

In our life we meet many physically disable people some of them are partially and some
are completely disables. Here communication placed a major role to feel someone better
indulging them in activity were they may say themselves as independent person. By these
thought the project smart hand glove with wheel chair for physically disable people is developed
so that disable person can live his life as he wants

This system provides people worldwide with physical disabilities require the assistance
of a wheel chair. The iron rolls based on hand movement of the person fingures. The aim at
incorporating the modern ways of wheel chair dynamics and control and at the same time
making it cost effective so it is affordable to the common masses. We develop a wheel chair
system which is controls by movement of touching the person’s fingers which are attached iron
rolls to it and also we get an voice output according to the hand glove movement.

The system reads persons hand glove gestures for different variations of hand movement
moves the wheel chair and convey messages through speaker. The output signal from the hand
glove are given to the transmitter section .Here the transmitter transmit the hand glove signals as
a digital signals. Receiver section receive the transmitter signals this receiver section is placed on
the wheelchair. Receiver gives this signals to the microcontroller so according to the signals the
motor driver will move and voice output will be generate.

The microcontroller constantly receives input values and then processes it. Now it searches for
retrived and is spoken out speech processing through the interfaced speaker and moves wheel
chair in required directions. Thus we have a fully functional smart speaking and moving

Problems faced by the physically disable person regarding employment can be overcome by
our method. So in the implemented work an intelligent microcontroller based system using iron
rolls is developed which is able to

 Convert gesture into voice

 Help a person to control his wheelchair by hand gestures

In today technology wired gloves are not yet reliable, the gloves should have wired
connection to the glove and microcontroller. They are using flex sensors for hand gestures but
the cost of the flex sensor is high and flex sensors does not give the accurate output values. If
flex sensors are used they required ADC converter so the overall design become complex.

1.3 OBJECTIVE

The main aim of this project is to provide the smart speaking and moving system for physically
disable people to convey their messages to the regular people and moving the wheelchair using
hand glove gestures

1.4 METHODOLOGY ADOPTED

The methodology adopted for developing the wireless speaking and moving system for
physically disabled persons by using hand gloves gestures using ARDUINO UNO micro
controller which is interfaced with L298n Motor driver and ISD1820 Recording module are used
to move the wheel chair and generate the voice output through speaker RF Transmitter and
Receiver Module used to give the input to the micro controller
