Structure 2011
FEATURE SUMMARY
This document presents an overview of the most interesting new features in the software. A
full description of all the features is available in the Help.
Important information:
• In order to run this software, you must first install Autodesk® Revit® Structure 2011.
Revit® Extensions for Autodesk® Revit® Structure 2011 Feature Summary
New Extensions
Frame Generator
The Module Frame Generator is used for the rapid definition and generation of a simple three‐
dimensional frame models of one or multi‐naves constructions in Autodesk Revit Structure.
Generated structural elements (columns, beams, supports) depend on following configuration:
• General frame parameters (number of naves, naves spacing, the insertion point)
• Geometric parameters of the structure:
‐ Geometry of nave
‐ Truss
‐ Eaves and attics
‐ Supports
‐ Purlins
‐ Bracings
‐ Outer walls
‐ Material of structural elements
During configuration, the construction is presented in three graphical modes – whole construction,
current nave and parametrical view.
Extensions Update
Reinforcement Extensions
Mounting part
You can now define and generate prefabricated elements, called mounting parts, as an integrated
part of reinforcement generation. Before generating appropriate objects in Revit, you can select the
family and type of element included on the Revit project and then define the position of each
element.
This functionality is available for the beam, column and wall reinforcement extension.
Required Reinforcement
You can compare required reinforcement and the area of reinforcement defined by the user during
parameterization. The required reinforcement is manually defined, an imported CSV file, or imported
using the link between Revit Structure and Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis
This functionality is available for the beam and column reinforcement extension.
Shape code
Reinforcement extensions are generated in Revit Structure 2011 reinforcement according to National
Standards.
The database and the standard code are specified by the regional setting features in the Revit
extensions manager.

Revit® Extensions for Autodesk® Revit® Structure 2011 Feature Summary
Rebar shape code is based on common structural databases shared with Autodesk Robot Structural
Analysis and AutoCAD Structural Detailing.
Drawing extensions
You can generate 2D production drawings of typical reinforced concrete components. The drawings
are processed by AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2011.
For this new version of the extension, beams, columns and isolated footing elements designed in
Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis and imported into a Revit project can be drawn in AutoCAD
Structural Detailing 2011. In addition for element categories, rebar defined in the Revit project could
be exposed in AutoCAD Structural Detailing 2011.
You can then draw the formwork of a selected element if this element is recognized by one of the
available reinforcement extensions.
Design Extension
You can send a beam, column or spread footing from a Revit Structure project to Autodesk Robot
Structural Analysis for reinforcement design purposes according to a specified design code.
You can now activate a mapping functionality to match rebar and shapes defined by the design code.
Extension parametric reinforcement and user‐defined reinforcement created in Revit and sent to
Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis are recognized as parametric and user‐defined. Either
reinforcement can be modified in this context.
Rebar, as a result of the design, is generated in the Revit project with the proper design code shape.
Composite Design
This extension helps perform basic structural analysis and design calculations of composite steel
beams in a Revit Structure model. Using this application, you can more quickly design / check the
behavior of composite beams or you can design an entire composite floor system on a floor by floor
basis within a single Revit Structure model. The feature works for general composite steel beam
design, but will also function for non‐composite design. All design is based on AISC 360‐05. Full
bidirectional integration with the Revit Structure model is achieved using this exciting new extension.

Revit® Extensions for Autodesk® Revit® Structure 2011 Feature Summary
Load Takedown
This extension performs Load Takedown simulation to help calculate the flow of forces through a
structure resulting from loads applied to a building structure defined in Autodesk® Revit ® Structure
2010 software. Calculations are based on information (geometry, materials, supports, loads, load
cases) defined in Revit Structure. Reactions and internal forces, which are results of the simulation,
are stored in the Revit model. Results are presented in graphical and tabular formats, and can be
displayed on Revit drawings.
