Started on the concept of social entrepreneurship, Hello Kids Nalanda is a pre-school that offers high
quality learning experience at affordable fees through activity based learning pedagogy and
methodology. The curriculum is developed and designed on the basis of three celebrated approaches
in pre-school education –Montessori method, Reggio Emillia approach and Prof. Howard Gardner’s
multiple intelligence approach.

Inspiration

At a very young age, founders found themselves in love with works of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore
and Mahatma Gandhi, who vouched for value based education for all - immaterial of their caste,
creed, religion, region and economic class. Values of equality and justice are embedded in the values
of our school. We believe that every child is unique – unique in its own way. Mother Nature has
bestowed every child with intelligence that enables him/her to excel, provided there is someone to
facilitate that process (not teach!!!)

The History

The founders of the school – Kanan & Ramkrishna, both were looking for a pre-school for their child
when they realized that most of the branded pre-school just boasted about the various approaches in
education but none could explain why, what, how, when of education. Belonging to a family of
educationists and involved with academics, they decided to do something on their own. Kanan’s long
experience of teaching in a celebrated school and trained in Howard Gardener’s Multiple Intelligence
as well as Teaching for Understanding approach and Ramkrishna’s decade-long experience of
teaching and curriculum development while working with institutions like Entrepreneurship
Development Institute of India (EDI) as a Faculty member and with Janvikas as a Senior Resource
Person for their primary school programme, came handy. So in 2014, Hello Kids Nalanda was born.
Ramkrishna, who was closely associated with social development work for more than 15 years,
decided to leave his cozy, comfortable professional life to become a social entrepreneur wherein, he
decided to address the issue of availability, accessibility, affordability and acceptability in pre-primary
education.

The Present

The journey from 2014 started with two bright kids – Kabir & Sanchi, who educated us to be more
patient, develop our understanding of children and learn to listen!
Today we have about 35 ‘teachers’ who keeps us busy and on our toes.
