8. PROCEDURE
1. Based on the joint investigation done by all parties at the site, certain cases have been observed and need to be
rectified as follow:

8.1. Unstable walls.

For this case, where have been identified at building as clouded on the attached lay outs, the following procedure will
be followed:
1. A 200 x 200 mm stiffener column will be provided at the end of the block wall with 4T12 and T8@200mm c/c steel
reinforcement, anchored at the top by 1R20mm dowel bar with PVC sleeve to prevent bonding to the concrete and
4T12 starter bars at the bottom.
2. A 300 x 100 mm stiffener column will be provided at the free end of the L- shape block wall with 3T12 and
T10@200mm horizontal reinforcement (hook type), anchored at the top by 2R20mm dowel bar with PVC sleeve to
prevent bonding to the concrete and 3T12 starter bars at the bottom.
3. Assure that all the joints have been filled as good as possible as light don’t pass through the joint from both sides of
the wall using the approved thin bed mortar (i.e. Neofil block from Colmef or Light weight block mortar from
Conmix)

8.2. Major Chasing of block wall which is deeper than 1/3 of the wall thickness.
For that case, where the concrete has been casted to fill the chasing surrounding the pipe, the following procedure will
be followed:

1. Groove will be made on both left and right sides of the casted concrete as deep as possible to provide a
separation.
2. The groove will be done vertically from top to bottom for the full height of the concrete casting.
3. The groove will be filled using site- mix 1:9 cement sand weak mortar.
4. The whole area at chasing comprising of (chasing, concrete and separation groove) will be covered by stain less
steel coil CL-L-150 S if it is external face and galvanized Coil lath CL-L-150 If it is internal face.

8.3. The separation gap between the wall and the slab soffit.
For that case, where the gap between the wall and the slab soffit is less than 20 mm, the following procedure will be
followed:
1. The top of the AAC block wall will be cut using a handsaw to achieve 20 mm joint gap
2. This joint will be treated by inserting 25 mm diameter polyethylene backing rod to adjust the depth of sealant
application to the required depth.
3. ACRYSEAL (Acrylic Sealant), the approved sealant that will be used at wall/soffit joint of non-fire rated walls, will
be applied to depth of 12 mm.
4. CP 606, the approved fire rated sealant that will be used at wall/soffit joint of fire rated wall will be applied to depth
of 10 mm

8.4. Fixing anchors types

1. As per the manufacturer recommendation, all fixings used will be suitable for light weight blocks with plastic plug
which is longer to penetrate deeper into the wall and having better grip to attain better pull out strength.
2. For sub frame fixing, TFS-L 8X80 screw supplied by the AAC manufacture are being used with min 4 numbers at
each side of sub frame.
3. For vanity and cabinet fixing, suitable screws will be submitted in due course by the installer
4. Measures required addressing the uninstalled mesh reinforcement in the lower 2 courses.
5. As per the manufacturer recommendation, that the wall can be maintained taking into consideration that the block
joints are properly filled with thin bed mortar.
6. In addition to the above, 250 mm expanded metal lath shall be fixed at the horizontal joint of 1st and 2nd layer from
both sides of the wall.
