Joanne writes detailed lesson plans that incorporate the local and state standards. Her plans contain all the major component parts and
address differentiation of instruction, pacing, and timing.

Joanne is a very energetic student teacher, who makes learning interactive for the students. During the observation, she used a variety
of strategies and tools: such as T charts, graphic organizers, discussion groups, shoulder partners, process logs, and whole group
instruction. She incorporated technology throughout the lesson by using the video, document camera, and SMART board. Joanne
blended these teaching tools and strategies seamlessly into her instructional delivery and students were fully engaged.

Standard 4: Joanne is getting used to this new set of students and beginning to collect data for analysis. At this point, I have seen no
evidence of Joanne using student data, but she is developing this in this area. During my visit, Joanne did provide constant constructive
feedback to students as they worked in their small groups sounding out vowel sounds.

Standard 3: Addendum (Please disregard the previous comments for Standard 3- below is the amended version)

Joanne taught small group instruction during the observation. She kept the students engaged throughout by asking them probing
questions and prompts. She was patient, understanding, and made sure the students were reaching their goals. She differentiated
instruction as she spent time with individual students focusing on improving areas where they had gaps in instruction. She used
technology throughout the lesson as she monitored their responses through an app.

Joanne was in control of the small groups she was teaching. She used voice control, direct reinforcement of positive behaviors, and
continuously talked to students about her expectations. She used a behavioral app to monitor classroom management throughout the
lesson. Joanne was very respectful of the students and coaxed an uncooperative student back to the learning mode by assessing his
needs.
