Global Market

A. Supply And Demand

The rapid growth of population should be a clear indication of increase on wine

consumption worldwide. However, the consumption of wine only grew slowly from 2016 to
2017 for just 0.01% according to IWSR Drinks Market Analysis. This slight increase is due to
the decrease of wine production during the years. In 2017, global wine production (excluding
juice & musts) fell to 250 mhl, a decline of 23.6 mhl compared with 2016 production. This
production volume can be described as historically low. This is due to the decrease of vineyards
in the Europe where most of the wine were produced. And yet, while this may be an alarming
thought for wine producers across the globe, the industry is far from being in trouble.

According to the article written by Jill Barth, titled “Prepare to Pay More Wine as Global
Production Reaches 60-Year Low”, announced that the global wine production (from grapes
vineyards) decreased by 8.6% from 2016 figures. The article also shows a continuous positive
trend over the years for wine being consumed worldwide even with the low supply. This results
to an increase in wine cost and will continue as the trend go up said by Barth. With this account
comes the potential of exotic cheap fruit wines in the global market.

According to the site Transparency Market Study in their article titled “Fruit Wine
Market-Global Industry Analysis, Size, Share, Growth, Trends, and Forecast 2016-2024”, though
to the popularity of grape wine, the customers starts to shift towards fruit wines given the wide
variety of products along with having the ability to please people with different taste. The site
concluded that with the advancement in technology, the manufacturers of fruit wine can create
quality wines and has competency for global market.
