POWERLOGIC® Power Monitoring and Control Systems
Energy and Enercept Meters
Class 3020, 3050
PowerLogic Energy Meter
The Energy Meter provides the features required for sub-metering along with pricing and convenience that removes the
hurdle from getting the information that is needed to make better decisions. The Energy Meter can be used for tenant
sub-metering applications where the property manager or building owner may not initially desire a full blown energy
management/information system. The Energy Meter can also be used in applications where load dis-aggregation is
required. The Basic Energy Meter acts as a standalone meter with display. The Enhanced Energy Meter adds the
capability of an optional communication board along with voltage input up to 600 Vac.
A multi segment backlit LCD display presents energy consumption in kWh and MWh as applicable. In addition, the
display automatically scrolls through the following variables:
k kW
k KVAR
k PF
k Volts per phase and 3 phase averagec
k Amps per phase and three phase average c
c Per phase values are not displayed on single phase meters.

The compatible current transformers (CT) are split-core style for ease of installation. The CT’s come in 125 A, 225 A,
800 A, 1600 A , and 5000 A ranges. The system accuracy including these compatible CT’s is 1% of reading from 2% to
100% of the rated current of the CT’s.
The Energy Meter has an Infrared Serial port so that data can be retrieved from the meter using a PDA with infrared
capabilities.

PowerLogic Enercept Meter

Enercept Meters consist of three interconnected split core CT’s with the metering and communication electronics built
into one of the CT housings. Simply snap on the CT’s, connect the voltage inputs and communication lines, and
installation is complete. There are two versions of the Enercept Meter – Basic and Enhanced. They differ only in the
amount of metering information provided. The Basic meter reports power and energy only. The Enhanced version
delivers 26 energy parameters, including power, energy, demand, volts, amps, power factor, and reactive power. Both
versions can be used on either three phase or single phase systems.
Enercept Meters employ the Modbus RTU 2-wire communication protocol and can utilize the same communication
network and POWERLOGIC System Manager software as other POWERLOGIC devices. Data from the Enercept
Meters can be presented within System Manager Software in tabular or graphical format, used for alarming and historical
logging and trending, along with producing reports. This makes the Enercept Meter the perfect unit for sub-metering
your entire facility.

Metering
Class 3020
Enercept Communications
There are multiple methods for communicating with the
3050 2W485C
Enercept Meter. The Enercept Meter can be tied directly
to a computer, can be tied to an E-Server for data logging,
or can be connected to a POWERLOGIC network with
circuit monitors and power meters.

POWERLOGIC The E-Server is an energy information server that is

PMX or SMS Software perfect for:
k Energy aggregation of remote sites
k Submetering/metering of large facilities
Enercept Meters
k Energy allocation on campuses/bases
It is ideal for remote monitoring applications as it provides
E-Server a flexible, cost effective means to:
k Gather energy usage information from multiple
sources
k Time and date stamp information and store it in
Phone Line
battery backed memory (SRAM)
k Accessible from servers (PCs) via modem or local
RS232
The E-Server accepts inputs from up to 20 Enercept
Meters and consumption pulses from up to four other
sources. The E-Server’s ability to accept standard pulsed
inputs allows for easy integration of energy usage from
water, gas, utility, and sewage meters.

Power System Studies
The Square D Power System Analysis Group provides expertise in a variety of electrical power system studies. These
studies can improve the reliability, safety and efficiency of all types of electrical systems, leading to long-term cost
savings. For example, a harmonic analysis identifies equipment exposed to destructive harmonics, and provides
solutions to increase product life and avoid damage or failure. System studies can provide economic benefits for small
and large electrical systems, whether new or existing. Some of the more common system studies include:
k Short-Circuit Analysis
k Time-Current Coordination
k Motor Starting / Voltage Drop
k Motor Starting / Torque-Speed Acceleration Analysis
k Safe Motor Re-energization
k Harmonic Analysis
k Transient Analysis
k Power Factor Correction Analysis
k Other System Specific Analysis
