Climate Change

Climate change is one of the biggest issues the human race is facing right now. And

every day we are contributing to it and we don’t even know it. There are 3 major ways we are

taking a part of climate change and those are, transportation, Factories and electricity. In the

articles “Union Of Concerned Scientists”, “How Can Factories Affect The Environment?”,

“These 100 Companies Are Responsible for Most of the World’s Carbon Emission”, “Climate

Change” explain how these 3 main topics are causing climate change.

Transportation has been one of the main causes of climate change, it is not only causing

danger to our environment but towards our health as well. In the article, “Car and global

warming” by Union Of Concerned Scientists it states, “Our personal vehicles are a major cause

of global warming. Collectively, cars and trucks account for nearly one-fifth of all US emissions,

emitting around 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other global-warming gases for every gallon of

gas.” about 24 pounds of carbon dioxide are being emitted every time someone puts gas in their

car, this is increasing U.S global warming emissions by thirty percent. And Billions of people

depend on vehicles a day to get to places and according to the same article, “..oil-related

emissions may rise in the coming years as the oil industry extracts and refines “unconventional”

oils..” with oil emissions rising in the years it’s getting harder and harder to lower the amount of

gas we are using in our cars. A worldwide solution would be to stop using vehicles in general to

stop increasing oil emissions but the human race depends on vehicles too much so some

solutions for this could be to switch to electric cars and trucks. Using electric fuel would reduce

the emissions by 80% and using electric cars would produce zero emissions to drive and having

this worldwide would really help slow down climate change.

The second major way thing that is adding on to climate change are factories. Factories

are releasing enormous amounts of pollution daily and on one is taking or doing anything about

it. In an article called, “How Can Factories Affect The Environment?” by Field.org they said, “

factories are to blame for as much as 2/3rds of the pollution that has caused climate

change...Toxic materials and gases are burned and released into the atmosphere.” There are

millions of factories all around the world and they are producing and releasing vast amounts of

gasses into the air that is harming the environment everyday. In other article “100 Companies

Are Responsible for Most of the World’s Carbon Emissions” by Lucinda Shenby it says, that

about 923 billions of carbon dioxide has been produced from 1988 to 2016, pollution is not

slowing down and not only is it affected our environment but it also is affecting our health. In

“How Can Factories Affect The Environment?” they mention how not only does the pollution

the factories produce harms the environment but also our health, it can cause illness and diseases

like chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart disease and many other illnesses, diseases and

conditions. But there are some solutions that can help prevent this, one solution is recycling,

recycling things like plastic water bottles, paper, aluminum cans can make a huge difference.

Ever since electricity has been introduced to our generation it has had a positive effect

and negative effect to make our lives easier but it has also has had a negative effect on the

environment. In the article “ Climate change” by Power scorecard it mentions that the “The

generation of electricity is the single largest source of CO2 emissions in the United States” most

of our CO2 emissions comes from the electricity we use everyday, in our house, school, work

basically everywhere we go. When we turn on our lights or use any type of electricity we use 57

% of our coil supplies to harness that energy so we can generate electricity. Not only does
burning coil produce a lot of COz in the air but it produces way more than oil and natural gas

combined, and this starts to create a bunch of waste and pollution which starts to harm the

environment even more. But people have found ways to produce electricity using less CO2

emissions which are solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, and nuclear systems. Unlike the other

systems these are fueled by wood, agricultural crop wastes, livestock wastes, and methane and

not oil or coal all these three contribute so little to global warming and help prevent vast amounts

of CO2 emissions.

In conclusion transportation, Factories and electricity have a huge affect on the

environment and the heath of the people in this world, these things are starting to lead to Risk of

species of animals becoming extinct, An increase in tsunamis, typhoons, hurricanes, floods and

other natural disasters, and many others but there are many people in the world looking for

solutions for climate change and are not only finding better ways to keep the environment safe

but the people as well.
