Do you know anyone currently
stuck in this cycle?
How Many People Deal With Recurrent Illness?

Figure 3 CDC’s current figures of Chronic

Disease. Note that the results of these figures

trillion in yearly healthcare costs in America.

To make matters worse, almost half (4 in 10)
American Adults have two or more chronic
diseases which explains how the cycle can
progressively get worse, depending on the
individuals circumstances.

The Atlantic reports that “29 million uninsured Americans who generally can’t
see a doctor or pay for a prescription until they’re sick enough to go to the
emergency room” (Reid, 2017). This statement may suggest that diseases aren’t
typically addressed until they’ve progressed into more serious stages, which
are harder to treat along with increased costs.

Free-Clinics: Impact on Non-Emergency visits to the E.R.

“We found that the group of

individuals who had access to
primary care at the local FCs (free-
clinic’s) were significantly less
likely than the group of uninsured
individuals who were not enrolled in
a FC to use the ED (Emergency
department) for care with lower
levels of clinical complexity”

Conclusion:
Consider the
consequences of what
may result as the cycle
progresses. See Figure
