Respected Sir:

Warm Greetings!

Education for All (EFA)—an enactment that holds educational institutions accountable in providing
quality education and maintaining high academic achievements for all students in the country—appears to be
almost unfeasible for many schools, which is highly challenged to meet EFA’s requirements. Two of the
essential factors to consider in order to fully attain the provisions in this enactment are (1) a curriculum that
ensures student proficiency in taking standardized tests; and (2) the adequate number of teachers who can
effectively translate the curriculum into meaningful instructional practices. Nevertheless, a third, and perhaps
often overlooked factor that influence knowledge and skills acquisition of learners is physical school facility.
Hughes (2005) and Lyons (2001) opined that student performance and achievement depended upon the age,
design, condition and availability of the school facilities. Adequate and quality school facilities and learning
materials must be equally viewed as an active contributor in this process.

In relation to this, the situation of the students in our school when it comes to inadequacy of school
facilities are felt and observed. Particularly, the students have to endure the heat of the sun and/or the heavy
rainfall whenever there are organized academic and extra-curricular activities happening. In spite the well-
planned objectives and strategies designed by the teachers for the students still the desired outcome is not
truly achieved due to these circumstances thereby affecting the success rate of the teaching and learning
process. This is as well held true to students who are having research subjects under the K-12 curriculum at
the said school. The students have to go through three research subjects under the General Academic Strand.
It becomes a burden and a challenge to the students to meet their research requirements and submit quality
outputs due to the lack of enough computers and internet connection in the school.

Thus, we are writing this letter to earnestly and humbly knock into your heart and ask for your kind
gestures in helping us provide a remedy to our current situation. It would be an absolute aid to us in
improving our school and academic services to our students if the school can be given a gymnasium or any
possible school facilities for the benefit of our learners.

We are earnestly hoping and appealing to you ma’am to be an instrument in our mission to cure
ignorance, provide life skills and cultivate values to our learners in this effort to have the necessary facilities
and improve our learning equipment’s/materials. We have attached a research study of our senior high school
students concentrating on relationship of inadequacy of learning materials and school facilities of general
academic strand on the academic performance of senior high school students in our school. We have as well
attached photos of activities we have organized showing the situation of the students even during last year’s
moving up and graduation exercises.

We are hoping to hear from your good heart sir in order for us to attain this mission. We will
be delighted to hear your response soon through my contact number 09207919717 or our School
Head, Madam Maria Victoria V. Dingding at 09062471656.
Sincerely,

MARIA THERESA M. HERBOLINGO, LPT, RPm
