I have been assigned to teach my kindergarten class a multi subject lesson based on the
book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. This lesson must have a project that can be presented to the
students parents at parent-teacher conferences the following week. The lesson should be
interesting for the students as well as educational. The lesson will include a Powtoon, a
Piktochart, and digital story. I will add all of these elements to a Glogster after they are created.
Powtoon is a website that is used to create animated videos. The videos can include
audio, pictures, and animated characters. The Powtoon I will create is a read aloud version of
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I will record my voice reading the book. I will also add animations
that correspond with what I am reading. I will show the Powtoon halfway between the beginning
of the lesson when I read the book and the end of the lesson. The Powtoon will be a quick
Piktochart is a website that can be used to create infographics. Infographics are made up
of mostly visuals that can be used to inform others. I will create two Piktocharts. The first
Piktochart will be a worksheet for the students math lesson. I will add different amounts of
coconuts, that the students will have to count and then write the number. The math worksheet
will also include an addition section where the students have to add the amount of leaves on two
different trees. The next Piktochart will be a worksheet for the student’s literacy lesson. The
students will have to trace the letters that are shown on the sheet.
I will use the editing software WeVideo to create a digital story. The digital story will
include different students in the class retelling the events that occured in the book, Chicka
Chicka Boom Boom. After I have all the footage of the students, I will use WeVideo to edit the
videos. I can use WeVideo to combine multiple clips into one video. I will edit it to have smooth

transitions between clips. I can also separate the audio from the video if I need to edit the audio. I
will also add a title screen and a credits page to the video.
When all the elements are created I will add them all to the Glogster, an interactive
digital poster, I created for the lesson. The Glogster will show the parents the materials the
students used to learn the lesson as well as the finished project, the digital story. All this
technology created different ways I could help the students enjoy the lesson. Technology like
Powtoons can be both educational and entertaining. Piktochart makes it possible for me to create
worksheets the way I want. I wouldn’t be stuck using a worksheet that doesn’t involve all the
aspect that I want, because it is the only one created for the lesson. A digital story is a great way
to assess the child. By their response in the video I can see if they understood the concept and
events in the story. A digital story is also fun to create so the students wouldn’t get bored with
the projects. Parents also love to see work their child created. Technology has not made teaching
necessarily easier, but it has increased the amount of ways that students can be taught.
