Local Food Pantry Helping to Feed the

Valley

HARRISONBURG, VA— December 3rd, 2018. Hope Distributed

is hosting a food packing event from 5:30-8 p.m. at their

Rockingham location Dec. 4th, 2018. First time volunteers

welcomed and encouraged.

Volunteers will work to pack boxes of food for the children

of families who receive free or reduced lunch during school.

This is being done to provide meals during the winter break

when these families do not get the support from the county

public schools. These boxes are to be promptly distributed

to the students to guarantee meals during the long break.

Vicki Waldrop states, “More families than you think need this

support over the winter break and these boxes will supply

necessary meals.”

Hope Distributed in Harrisonburg has been serving members

of Rockingham County for nearly 15 years through a food

pantry and clothes closet. Hope Distributed works to supply

food, clothes, and furniture to individuals and families that

have been displaced or are struggling financially. The

impact felt by Hope Distributed is widespread and has

continued to grow thanks to donations and expansions.

Hope Distributed is located close to a majority of JMU student

housing so this is an opportunity for students and residents of

Harrisonburg to serve their community and gain service hours for

clubs and organizations. Student meal packing will take place at
