Final Inquiry Brooklyn Pendley

Question: How can I make sure that all my students are getting

involved in class and make sure that all the children are

receiving the right education for them?

Resources:

I observed Dr. Tisher, a 1st grade teacher at Jefferson

Elementary in Watertown, SD.

I observed a first grade classroom in Watertown and

conversed with them on their favorite part of learning.

Bucholz, Jessica L. and Sheffler, Julie L. (2009). Creating

a Warm and Inclusive Classroom Environment: Planning for

All Children to Feel Welcome. Electronic Journal for

Inclusive Education, Volume 2(No. 4).

Based on the information I collected from observing a first grade

teacher and her classroom along with the research I acquired, the best

way to make sure all the students in a classroom get involved in class

is to create a variety of different activities that allow different

types of learners to have the chance to learn the way that fits best

for them. This is the same for making sure each individual student is

receiving the right education for them; there needs to be a variety in

the classroom to fit every child’s needs. I agree with these

statements because each child is different and they learn differently

so teachers need to create a lesson plan with variety. For example, in

a classroom, there might be some children that learn best by visual

learning, some children who learn best by auditory learning, and some

that learn best by hands-on learning. In this case, the teacher may

want to have some activities that are strictly visual, such as

teaching the children to write by having them watch the teacher write

first then they follow in example, some activities that are strictly

auditory, such as teaching children to count by saying the numbers out

loud then having them repeat it, and some activities that are hands-on

activities, such as playing with blocks.

I will most likely use this research in my future when I am

constructing a lesson plan and need ideas on how to create equal

opportunities for all my students to learn in a way that is best

suited for them. I will use the information that I learned through

research and through experience to ensure that all my students obtain

the information they need in a way that determines they remember the

content.
