From: Wesleyan College Teacher Education Committee
RE: Portfolio II

Dear Ms. Hall,

The Teacher Education Committee (TEC) met on December 10, 2018, to review your
portfolio for entering student teaching at Wesleyan College.

The committee has voted to fully admit you to full-time student teaching for the
spring of 2019 semester. You should receive your placement location by December
14th. You should make plans immediately to contact your host teacher to confirm
the time and location of the pre-planning meetings that begin in early January as
you will follow your school’s calendar beginning in January and not Wesleyan’s.

Ciara, you are unique and the nature of your disability has raised some serious
concerns regarding your ability to fully accept and perform all the duties of a
teacher of record once you are in place in your full time placement. Because of these
concerns, the committee respectfully suggests the following actions be taken or
planned for before your student teaching begins in January:

1. You should determine a way to assume the responsibility of loading and

prepping your Portfolio III and Exit Weebly requirements.
2. You should investigate what options exist for visually impaired submissions
of all EdTPA requirements.
3. You should research and locate a chat group, support group, or online
community of blind teachers to seek advice, strategies, and collaborative
ideas.
4. You should consider reaching out to Mrs. Baggs once again to co-teach, model,
and assist as you build up to taking over your classroom.

This committee is made up of professors across all content areas here at Wesleyan.
They see true potential in you and feel you will represent Wesleyan well in the field
of Education. We know you have the capacity to become an outstanding educator
and hope you realize that at this point how great you become is now in your hands.
The committee urges you from this point forward to take a pro-active role in your
needs and special requirements specific to your disability. We are confident you
have it in you! Congratulations!

Respectfully Submitted
