7
REMOTE DISPLAY SOFTWARE
VNC and Web Desktop are now supported as remote display software
options.
8
EXPLICIT PATH SELECTION FOR BIDIRECTIONAL
TUNNEL WITH LINEAR PROTECTION
For Bidirectional Tunnels with linear protection, you can now select the
PEs and/or links that Lightsoft must use (included) or avoid (excluded)
when creating a tunnel, on both main and protection trails.
9
LSP TUNNEL RESTORATION
10
NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS
The Throughput test enables you to check SLAs between service endpoints and
can be used in network service diagnostics. It simulates the sending of frames of
a specific rate to test CIR throughput. LightSOFT measures the frames sent and
received, and records details of lost frames.

TRAIL FILTER ENHANCEMENTS
Trail Filter is enhanced. Use Quick Filter to filter the Trails list using up to
four criteria. Use Force Filter to search for and load specific trails to the
Trails list.

LIGHTPULSE
A completely new GUI and look-and-feel for viewing and analyzing Optimized
Network Communications Protocol (ONCP) optical parameters and PM values
for OCH and OMS trails, optical links, NEs and ports of Apollo NEs
Data are presented in either text or chart format via Firefox web browser
Support for historical collection and comparison of measurements, thresholds,
and different types of graphs (bars/lines)
Intelligent, proactive use of data to help operators maintain healthy optical
networks for maximized SLAs and minimized costs
Requires purchase of the LightPulse ONCP cost option (P/N X92173)
Requires additional memory – refer to Sizing Rules
19
OTDR ENHANCEMENTS
New OTDR links button gives a view of all OTDR links in the topology at a glance
New OTDR tab in the port properties window provides information about the
status of this port
Option to manage the OTDR tests via the powerful LightPulse graphical
package: run an initial reference test, save the results for comparison with newer
tests, and view all the results
Determine the location of fiber cuts
Provide a record of how fiber loss and reflectivity change over time
Managing the OTDR tests via LightPulse requires purchase of the LightPulse
OTDR cost option (P/N X92172)

ENHANCED ACTIVE OPTICAL TRAIL VIEW
24
ENHANCED ACTIVE OPTICAL TRAIL VIEW
The ‘show active view’ feature for optical trails has been significantly
enhanced by adding support for arrows showing the actual direction of
live traffic
Enables operators to predict the impact of fiber maintenance activities
much more accurately than before, since the forward and backward
directions may take different routes
Enhanced immediate visualization of links carrying live traffic
25
ADDITIONAL OPTICAL FEATURES IN V12
26
HIDE PRIMARY LE (LOGICAL ELEMENT)

28
NEW LOOK & FEEL
29
FLAT VIEW FOR OPTICAL TRAILS
Enables viewing trails in a flat view, with the main and protection paths
laid out in horizontal lines
Especially helpful in case of complex topologies, where the highlighted
trail may not clearly stand out
When NEs are common to both main and protection paths, they appear
circled
