Dear Reader,

In this year I have made about eight papers I felt I improved as a writer since the first paper.

Since the first paper I accomplished many things such as how to write a proper thesis statement

and how to correctly cite quotes. Learning these things has helped me write essays quicker and

receive better scores. Some of the challenges and difficulties I encountered were grammar

mistakes. I have never self-edited my paper so I would receive my paper with simple grammar

mistakes that I could’ve easily got rid of. Some of the mistakes were like contractions and using

words like “really” and “very”. Overall, I feel my body work turned out good, the paper I am

most proud of would be the social issue paper because it took the longest and was the most

challenging one.

I have gained benefits from the writing process, setting goals and reflecting on each piece. I felt

reflecting on each piece has helped with future papers because it would keep me stay on topic

and remind me what I needed to improve on. In my reflection sheets I had my goals and that

helped me stay on track to accomplish that goal. Setting up goals for our writing or just in
general helps me stay motivated. By setting up goals I can measure and take pride in the

achievement of that goal. I will also gain confidence and be more comfortable in my future

writings when I accomplished my goal. My goal was to have a good grade and improve in my

writings. After all, it was very beneficial to do all this because it helped me improve in my

writings.

Whenever I wrote a paper, I knew my strengths and weaknesses I knew what I needed to

improve on. Some of the weakness I have as I'm writing is not self-editing after I am done. I

choose not to self-edit because I usually just want to turn it in and be over with it. Another

weakness I have is coming up with a hook for my intro. I struggle with starting my paper I

usually aim for something to keep the reader interested but I find it difficult. Although I have

things to improve on, I also have strengths when it comes to writing where I feel confident. Such

as, the ability to find evidence to support my arguments. In conclusion, I have more weaknesses

than strengths, but I can improve with more practice.

As I move beyond High School, I think the skills I learned will help me in the future. Whenever I

need to write an essay, I will use what I learned and display them. I have learned many things

about my writing throughout this year from my revisions and reflections. I t was very beneficial

to revise and reflect on each piece because it allowed me to realize that I have been improving in

my writings. I will use that information and teacher’s comments to improve my writings moving

forward.

Sincerely,
Alberto Ceja
