Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

The worldwide burden of cancer is increasing at an alarming

pace. Pain is one the most burdensome symptoms of

cancer. More than half of all patients with cancer experience

pain. If cancer pain is not adequately treated, it can have

devastating consequences that affect the quality of life ofe

patient and their families.

To improve this problem, especially in Indonesia, a group of physicians who share the
same vision gathered to form Indonesian Society of Interventional Pain Physician (ISIPP).

We hope that we can bring together multidisciplinary experts in the field of pain medicine

for standardization and advancement of interventional pain service. ISIPP is formed last

year, and we are still growing to become Indonesian Chapter of WIP.

To improve standard of pain patient management, we conduct scientific meeting which

consists of symposium and workshop that will be held 04-06 August 2019 in Mercure,

Kemayoran, Jakarta. I am very honored to introduce you to our new organization.

We look forward for you to join us, to achieve one common goal in preventing and

overcoming pain.

Best regards,

Ketut Ngurah Gunapriya, MD. Sp.An, KIC, FIPM FIPP, CIPS

Greetings
Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Indonesia Intervention Pain Physician Symposium (3rd

IIPPS). This is the only multidisciplinary conference in Indonesia

offering insight into the complex problem of cancer pain

management, with our theme this year “Better Life For End of Life”.

This event aiming to explore the diversifying science and

therapeutic application in cancer pain.

Pain is one of the most common, unattended and unsolved problem for the cancer patients.
Cancer pain, or cancer-related pain, is strongly associated with a poor quality of life and has

therefore been suggested as a substantial indicator for quality of life in cancer patients. The WHO

and the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance estimate that 40-60% of all deaths require palliative

care, and that pain is one of the most frequent and serious symptoms. Its management is often
hindered by barriers created by patients and physicians alike.

To continuously improve the quality of cancer pain management in Indonesia, which consists of

symposium and workshop of cancer pain management with our theme “Better Life For End of Life”.

We believe that this meeting will brings you to valuable experiences, and will spur our spirit to
learn more about interventional pain management, since this relatively new technic on treating

cancer pain in Indonesia.

We look forward to see you in the beauty and hospitality of Jakarta Capital Indonesia.

Best Regards,

Alif Noeriyanto Rahman, MD. FIPP
