Original Work Proposal

Biological chemistry, in itself, is a broad topic that encompasses chemical processes

within living organisms. One of the most essential goals of biological chemistry is to understand

the structure and behavior of biomolecules. Through extensive research, I came across

environmental biochemistry. This intriguing subtopic is engaged in studying microbial

metabolism of pollutants.

Part 1:

The goal of this Original Work proposal is to raise awareness and skill for rational and

reasonable utilization of environmental resources by educating people about the consequences of

environmental degradation on a molecular level. Therefore, this Original Work will consist of an

educational article that highlights enzymes from various microorganisms that are involved in the

biodegradation of toxic pollutants. In addition, it will also consist of an interactive map that

contributes towards reducing the toxicity of the pollutants by raising awareness of such

organisms. Enzymes such as oxidoreductases and transferases will be addressed in the article and

different environmental disasters around the world will be addressed in the interactive map.

In summary, the article will consist of an abstract, introduction, and subcategories. The

beginning of the article will simply state current environmental issues that involve microbial

enzymes. Further on, the article will address each enzyme specifically and its role in the

environment. The map will consist of a short description of what the disaster is, where it was

located, and how the disaster was cleaned up. By creating this Original Work, I hope to answer

the question of why enzyme activity is so critical to the environment and how it affects

modern-day society.

Part 2:

To create this article and map, many steps will need to taken in order to bring the

Original Work from beginning to its completion. First and foremost, extensive research must be

done. Specifically, my research will consist of analyzing the different enzymes and their role in

biodegradation of pollutants as well as different bioremediation sites. I will also analyze various

studies previously performed to get a gist of how biochemists analyze enzymatic activity and to

assess the progress has been made in this field. In addition, I plan to find current problems in the

environment and incorporate that into my article. To help bring my Original Work together, I

will also ask environmental biochemists for advice over-structuring of my article as well as

insight into additional information I must add.

Part 3:

This Original Work will reflect my extensive research and knowledge of biological

chemistry as the article will compromise entirely of my research regarding that topic. The article

will also encompass a professional look by incorporating successful article etiquette with

references, columns, and high-level thinking. In addition, the article will be written to raise

awareness about the environmental degradation for my community and analyzed through an

enzymatic perspective on a molecular level.

As part of the requirements, this article will demonstrate creativity, originality, and

elaboration because of careful planning and structuring of the article with the use of high-level

vocabulary. Because this topic of enzymes is fairly new to me, I must carefully analyze each

research paper and synthesize the information gained. Therefore, my article will show my

commitment, growth in knowledge, and effort from start to beginning.
