Wednesday March 6th, 2019 Lesson Plan

Title of Lesson: Angle Jeopardy

Lesson Summary: We are going to do a review jeopardy game as we have finished up our unit on
angles. For the first and second period, we will have already taken the test the day before so we
are going to do a geometry review air test review packet. As we will be taking the post geometry
test on Thursday. For my third and fourth period class, we will be playing jeopardy for the first
block, and then taking the test during the second block. We will have five categories worth of
questions (Classifying Triangles, Classifying Angles, Geometry Review, Finding Missing
Angles, and Supplementary and Complementary Angles.)

Grade Level: 7th

Subject: Math
Length of Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes

District, State, National Standards Covered:

7.G.2 Draw (freehand, with ruler and protractor, and with technology) geometric figures with given
conditions. a. Focus on constructing triangles from three measures of angles or sides, noticing when the
conditions determine a unique triangle, more than one triangle, or no triangle. b. Focus on constructing
quadrilaterals with given conditions noticing types and properties of resulting quadrilaterals and
whether it is possible to construct different quadrilaterals using the same conditions.

7.G.5 Use facts about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a multi-step
problem to write and solve simple equations for an unknown angle in a figure

Lesson Objectives: Be able to measure and create obtuse, acute, right and straight angles.
Find the missing angles of a triangle and a quadrilateral.
Find and label adjacent, vertical, complementary and supplementary angles.
Find angle measures using definition of adjacent, vertical, complementary and supplementary
angles.

Materials Needed:
-Calculator
-Scrap Piece of paper
-Pencil

Procedures:
Lesson Opening: I will introduce the lesson by explaining the rules of jeopardy and
putting them into groups. I will also explain that this is a good review for the test that we are
doing during the second block.
Body of Lesson (Modeling): We will go through the different questions and any time we
get to a trickier question I will go over that question on the board to make sure they have a good
grasp of the material.
Guided Practice: They will do the work for each question together in groups so that they
can help each other at.

Independent Practice: I will have one person that has to answer each question for their
group. So they might be answering questions individually without any help if they already know
the answer.

Closing: To close we will do a final round of jeopardy and then go over anything that is
going to be crucial for the test that I might think they need to look at.

Assessment and Evaluation: I will assess the students by their scores on the jeopardy game and
also by their test that they are taking the second part of the class.

Differentiation: For the IEP studnets I have a teacher that comes in to make sure that during the
activities they are staying on track, but during the modeling I will make sure that I am not
moving on until everyone is ready to move on. These students will also be working together so
they will be able to have peer feedback.
Technology: Camera, and Powerpoint

Reflection: This lesson went smoothly through my advanced and general classes. I did think it
went a little rough through my emphasis class as they just didn’t want to review. But after talking
with Dr. Jones I realized it didn’t go as bad as what I thought. The one thing that I would change
is to do a daily double question in the middle where each team can wage money to get back into
the game.
