Video 1 – What is a selection? (photoshop course)

 What was the event like? – I chose this course because I know some about photoshop, but I
wanted to know more about it. The selection tool is very important to the application because it
is the thing that selections other pieces of the photo in order to move it around and dramatically
adjust the photo.
 What was valuable for you personally? – One of my informational interviews with a woman
from a nonprofit organization talked about having experience in the adobe applications.
Photoshop is one of these. As I continue my photography business and other possible jobs in the
field, it is a useful skill to know how to do. I have needed to use this tool and it took a while to
figure out, so now that I have done this course, I understand more how to use it. I know how to
easily use it, which is very productive. Photoshop can be confusing, so having a detailed step to
step instruction in one place can make the art much faster and productive.
 What will you do or explore now that you have had this new experience? – I can use this
experience to continue learning about photoshop, increase my resume, and use it to promote
myself. Not a ton of people know the ins and outs of photoshop, so the more knowledge I have
can help me in a future job. Photoshop is needed for advertisements and marketing and a lot of
different artistic jobs.

Video 2 – Excel Essential Training… Excel Quick tips

 What was the event like? – The video talked about the basics of Microsoft excel for someone
who has never used it before or used it very little. It went over the basics of excel and how it
worked. It talked about how to make the text wrap, create a new sheet, rename the sheets, and
modify the columns and cells.
 What was valuable for you personally? – Having a higher knowledge of excel looks good on
resumes. It is not something that very difficult to learn, but it is important to take the time out
of a day to learn how to use excel. I know it will be useful sometime during college and my
career. It will be extremely helpful when I can use these skills in a project that requires an excel
spreadsheet. I know how to do the basic and know that I can look at Lynda to see how to do a
more detailed and complex actions on the application. I have had to use excel a few times in the
past, and I have always struggled to use it.
 What will you do or explore now that you have had this new experience? – I want to continue
using Lynda to learn more about excel. Excel can be helpful in many situations, so I want to
know how to use it properly. I feel that after this video, I know how to do the basics of the app,
but knowing even more will just look better on my resume. Since many people don’t know how
to use excel well at all, I will look good toward recruiters.

Video 3 – Time Management Fundamentals

 What was the event like? – This video was taught by Dave Crenshaw who teaches people who to
manage people’s time easily. It says to use a calendar with times so you can see how much time
is left in the day. It says to schedule buffers in the day, so that if you need an interruption, you
can have time for it. He says to use the calendar for anything longer than 15 minutes to properly
budget your time. He says you should think long-term, leading to what you are going to have to
do in the future. He says a calendar is a change of mindset. We need to change our mindset to
think of our calendars as a commitment.
 What was valuable for you personally? – I think sometimes it is hard for me to commit to other
people and make my days productive because I have no clue where to start. Knowing how to
properly use my calendar and knowing what to put on it will help me to spread my time out
properly.
 What will you do or explore now that you have had this new experience? – I want to continue
with his courses about other time management key concepts. I want to continue to focus on
changing my mindset about time management, so that I can use it to make my next year more
productive.
