ePortfolio Exhibit
1:00-3:00 PM, Day 3 of the
Three-Day Face-to-Face Training in the Regions

Introduction

The objectives of this training program center on the improvement of the participants’ skills
on significant areas of teaching and learning such as in pedagogy, assessment, and the use
of technology. As newly-hired Special Science Teachers in the Basic Education, it is crucial
for the participants to strengthen their understanding of these concepts in order to address
the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and to be at par with the Philippine
Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST).

The ePortfolios of the participants in the online training sessions (modules 1 and 2 for both
licensed and non-licensed professionals; and module 3 for non-licensed professionals) best
showcase their understanding of the concepts by tasking them to select two (2) main
outputs from the 10 lessons and one (1) reflective journal for each of the modules. These
outputs were uploaded and redesigned in a personal website called WIX. In this format, the
process of learning is well-documented through a step-by-step development and by
allowing the participants to repackage their outputs in the best way they want. According to
Professor Kong Siu Cheung of Education University of Hong Kong (2017, November 14),
through ePortfolio, their pre-service teachers have developed seven (7) Generic Intended
Learning Outcomes (GILOs). These seven GILOs are problem solving skills, critical thinking
skills, creative thinking skills, oral and written communication skills, social interaction skills,
ethical decision making, and global perspectives. With these GILOs, deep learning is being
promoted. Briggs (2016) described that when a student is engaged in deeper learning, he or
she thinks critically and is able to communicate and work effectively in wide-variety of
subjects. Also, deeper learning allows the students to process learning for transfer and thus
apply concepts from one field to wide-variety of situations. With these, the development of
an ePortfolio helps the participants aim those learning outcomes, further enhance their 21st
century skills, and target the PPST competencies.

Objectives

This session focuses on showcasing the participants’ best outputs through their ePortfolio.
Specifically, this session aims to:
1. identify the evidences of meeting the professional standards for beginning teachers
defined in the PPST;

2. demonstrate their understanding of the concepts learned through their chosen
outputs; and
3. demonstrate their skills in using varied media in showcasing their chosen outputs.

Design

Participants of Module 1 to Module 3 are encouraged to showcase their ePortfolios in a

“Gallery Walk” format exhibit. The expected outputs in the ePortfolios are 1) Two (2) main
outputs and reflective journals of Licensed Teachers from Module 1 to 2; and 2) Two main
outputs and reflective journals of Non-licensed Teachers each from Modules 1 to 3. All
participants of the ePortfolio exhibit are also encouraged to include their outputs in the
Face-to-Face training.

All online facilitators will be asked to open their classrooms (in PNU LMS) to send messages
to their students regarding the exhibit—in this way, the participants will have time to
update or enhance their ePortfolios.

The exhibit will be set up on the first day of the FTF training to let the judges view the
ePortfolios and have a shortlist of nominees for the Outstanding ePortfolio Award. The
formal Gallery Walk will be held on the last day of the training.

The rubric for evaluating the ePortfolios of the participants will be provided by PNU and
sent to all the lead universities. The judges could choose three to five best ePortfolios. The
winners will receive a Certificate of Recognition for being the creator of BEST ePORTFOLIO.
