(what you will do during the class): (what students will do during workshop/lecture):

Introduction to Lesson (10 minutes)

Welcome Students
Define clearly the learning targets for the session Listen, ask questions, if required and watch
Review key points of what was done in the last Class Discussion: Make contributions to answer
session (particularly defining categorical and the questions I ask regarding last session’s topics
numerical variables). This will be done in form of
discussion with the class
Organising Data (45 minutes)
8 minutes: First, explain why it is useful to
organise data. Then, lecture on organising Listen to teacher’s presentation
categorical data using summary table (for single
categorical variable) and contingency table (for 2
or more categorical variables).
7 minutes Class example to illustrate the tables.
The students will be asked to try the problem first. Work out the Sample problems: Practice to learn
Then we treat the problem together. (PTL). Complete task and discuss findings

cumulative distributions

15 minutes: Class Quizzes on Organising Data:
The quizzes are conducted with Mentimeter (an
online tool for collecting participants’ responses),
giving everyone the opportunity to share their Enter the code provided and participate in the
answers. Discussion on the rationale to various quizzes
answers will be done and a quick explanation to Ask questions, if required
the correct answer is given after everyone has Seek clarifications, if any
given their response.
Discuss and mention possible areas the concepts
discussed can be applied in their programme

picture is worth a thousand words." Using it to
explain why data visualisation is important. Then, Listen to teacher’s presentation
lecture on visualising categorical data using bar,
pie, pareto charts for single categorical variable
and side by side bar chart and doughnut chart for
2 or more categorical variables
7 minutes Class examples to illustrate the charts.
