America

Honestly, I feel as if the writer is describing their feelings towards their America. Even

though the hardships the writer seems like the kind of likes America. The first line of the poem

shows how it was when they first came to America. The writer describes America as a woman,

making “her” their parent. They seem like they are dependent on America even though of the

hardships. The line, Stealing my breath of life… gives an image of America draining the life out

of them and how defeated they are. America is where this individual found their freedom even

though it seems hard at times.
