Activity 1 – Warm-up
Aim – introducing the topic
Procedure: In this warm up activity, students get into small groups. Then, the teacher gives a rebus
to be solved. They discover the topic. To help students organize their thinking and writing process,
the teacher guides learners’ thinking as they fill in and build upon a visual map.

Activity 2
Aim: to practice the use of the comparatives
Procedure: Using the people in the class is a logical place to start with comparatives. A simple
activity is to put students into groups of four. Tell them to make as many true sentences as they can
comparing each other using the following phrases. Is young; has big family; has long hair ; is
talkative; is tall . Set a time limit. Then ask students to read out some of their sentences, e.g. Marta
has longer hair than Juan and Pablo.

Activity 3
Aim: to practice the use of the superlatives
Procedure: The students have to use Google Search to find the information about some incredible
world records. They work in groups and then they read the informations .

Aim: to reinforce the students’ knowledge of the comparative degree
Procedure: The teacher gives students a worksheet with exercises regarding comparisons

Homework setting
Procedure The teacher asks the students to write two paragraphs making comparisons and contrasts
based on the following topic: Living in the countryside and living in the city.
