Day Four of Bargaining


PEA and PUSD negotiating met today for our fourth session of negotiations. During the bargaining
session three articles were discussed Article 6: Hours of Employment, Article 12: Employee Benefits,
and for Article 13: Benefits. No agreement was reached regarding any article discussed. The next
negotiation meeting between PEA and District is scheduled for April 5, 2019.
PEA continues to ask the District to negotiate a “fair share” of the Local Control Funding Formula
(LCFF). Again, we share the below chart regarding the overall percentage of total budget that the
Districts spends on members.

The graph displays a simple fact the percentage of money from the overall budget allocated for PEA
unit members continues to decrease. This is why we collectively bargain. This is why we take a seat at
the table. This is why we will continue to “stand up for students” by bargaining a contract that will
attract and retain educators for all students in Pittsburg.
