To Whom It May Concern

I write in enthusiastic support of Taylor Kirk for college scholarships. I base my recommendation on
knowing Taylor as her school counselor during her tenure at Carson High School. Simply put, Taylor has the
chops, both academically and artistically, to thrive in college and will make excellent use of college
scholarships.

Academically, Taylor is very high performing, showing the maturity, organizational skills, and follow-through
to excel in high level classes while simultaneously balancing a rich and time-consuming set of extracurricular
activities. It goes without saying that she is smart as well with good skills in reading comprehension, writing,
analysis, and mathematics. She has taken two of our three hardest classes: AP Environmental Science with Dr.
Dupree and AP English Language with Dr. Schuetze-Coburn. That she earned an “A” with Dr. Schuetze-
Coburn is an indicator that she will succeed handily in her freshman English composition class. That she
earned a “B” in AP Environmental Science shows that she knows how to work hard. She has earned mostly As
and has taken virtually all honors classes except when these classes conflict with her Theater Arts program.
She has also been taking her Spanish requirement in community college this year and last in order to leave
room in her schedule for theater classes.

Taylor is a heavy-hitter in our performing arts program as well. She is in all Carson High’s major productions,
often with big roles. She is a triple threat: She dances, sings, and acts. We see all the performances and love
seeing her on stage.

On a personal level, Taylor’s energy is positive and motivating for the students around her, but she is also
centered and does not indulge in teen drama. She is calm and focused when that’s what is needed. She brings
groups together because of her natural tendency to be understanding and nonjudgmental toward her peers.
Taylor is very centered in her church, and draws strength from her connection to both her school and church
communities. She is a secure and self-respecting young woman.

In summary, Taylor has the maturity, time management skills, productivity, and capacity to handle both the
academics and theater program at a high-powered school. She will be a positive and appreciated addition to her
college community. Thus you can rest assured that a scholarship will not only help Taylor but be well-used
by Taylor. I recommend her enthusiastically and without reservation to your organization.
