Martin Potter: Bio

Martin creates transmedia work including SxSW award winning Big Stories, Small
Towns (www.bigstories.com.au), the White Building (www.whitebuilding.org:
Cambodia), Island Connect (Sri Lanka) and the TED prize winning Stereopublic:
crowdsourcing the quiet. Martin also produces documentaries in Australia and
overseas, including 20 hours of commissioned broadcast television. His focus is on
facilitating work that supports marginalised groups and individuals to tell and share
their stories.

His projects have received over $8 million in competitive grant funding, including
from international funders including UN and international development agencies.

Martin is based at Deakin University as a researcher in the School of Communication


and Creative Arts and is a member of the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship &
Globalisation. He is an investigator with the Centre of Excellence for Advancing
Biodiversity and Heritage in Australia (epicaustralia.org.au), a director of Big Stories
Co. (bigstories.co) and board member for non-profit video for change organisation
Engage Media (engagemedia.org).
