2 Air Cooled Chillers Vs Water Cooled Chillers

2.1 General
Proper selection and justification of the HVAC strategy is a crucial element of
the HVAC system design process. The ultimate objective is to acquire and uti-
lise a HVAC system that will minimise the impact on the natural and physical
environment through energy efficiency and simplification of the systems and
that will provide the most appropriate approach, on a whole of life basis, in
terms of capital, operating, replacement and maintenance costs.

2.2 Aim
The aim of this policy is to present minimum requirements concerning the
structure and content of a HVAC system selection report.

2.3 Policy objective

The objective of this policy is to:

 Ensure selection of the most appropriate HVAC strategy for a Bank facili-
ty; and
 Facilitate agreement to the most suitable HVAC strategy through a con-
sistent HVAC system selection report submission.

3 Recommendation & Conclusions

In view of the initial Cost, maintenance, water consumption and life expectancy of the
HVAC systems, we would like to recommend going for Air Cooled Chilled water system
for this prestigious project.
