ORGANIZATION OF THE CLASS: pair- work, individual work, group work


1. ACTIVITY ONE – Conversation – 3 minutes

- organization of the class ( the attendance of the pupils)

- checking homework.

2. ACTIVITY TWO – Warm-up – 10 minutes

The teacher writes on the blackboard the word GHOST and asks the students to define it and to
brainstorm ideas related to ghosts. Do you believe in the existence of ghosts? Have you ever
experienced anything spooky? The students give their answers. The teacher writes the title of the
lesson on the blackboard and asks the students to say what it implies. The teacher plays a short
clip related to the topic and asks the students to discuss it.

3. ACTIVITY THREE : Pre-reading – 5 minutes

The teacher tells the students that they are about to read a text about paranormal photos and , to
pre-teach the vocabulary, she asks the students to work in pairs and do a matching exercise.
(ex.2a/pag 201 ) (handout 1). The teacher checks the answers with the whole class.

4. ACTIVITY FOUR – while reading - 10 minutes

Students are asked to read the text. They work in pairs and while reading they have to do a
reading comprehension exercise. (ex.1c/ pag. 200). The teacher checks the students
comprehension of the text and then checks the answer with the whole class.

5. ACTIVITY FIVE post-reading(discussion) -5 minutes

The teacher asks the students if they liked the article. What was your general impression after
reading this article? How much do you think TV and movies affect your opinions and beliefs?
Would you ever visit a haunted place?

6. ACTIVITY SIX- writing -15 minutes

The students work in groups and they have to write their own ghost story starting from a picture.

Each group will assign a spokesperson who will present the story to the class.

7. ACTIVITY SEVEN – feedback and homework assignment -2 minutes.

The teacher will mark the students who gave answers during the class.

For homework assignment, if the students finish the stories in class, they will have to do some
research and create a top 5 most haunted places on earth.
