prior to graduation
BY TAYLOR ROBINS
taylor@dekalbchamp.com

A
head of high school graduations, DeKalb County
School District (DCSD) announced each high school’s
valedictorian and salutatorian for the 2018-2019
school year.
By definition, a valediction is a student who earned the
highest-ranking academic score. A salutatorian is a student
who earned the second-highest–ranking academic score. Both
students traditionally speak at their school’s graduation.
Along with publically announcing the achievements for
students at the top of their class, the district also plans to
recognize the valedictorians and salutatorians May 9. DCSD
Superintendent R. Stephen Green, school principals and
board of education members will be in attendance and speak.
The celebration will take place at the Robert R. Freeman
Administrative & Instruction Complex, 1701 Mountain
Industrial Boulevard in Stone Mountain at 6:30 p.m.
DCSD’s valedictorians and salutatorians are as follows:
