Asal Usul Desa Golat

Desa Golat merupakan sebuah desa kecil di Kabupaten Ciamis, Kecamatan Panumbangan, yang
terletak di Jawa Barat. Secara geografis Desa Golat dinilai cukup strategis karena menjadi
penghubung antara daerah Warudoyong dan Panumbangan. Daerah Golat berada di dataran
rendah, dikelilingi gunung sawal yang menjadi salah satu sumber mata air yang ada di
kecamatan panumbangan. Inilah keunikan tersendiri dari Desa Golat dibandingkan dengan desa
lainnya.

Menurut cerita dari orang-orang di desa tersebut nama Golat berasal dari Kata “Go” berarti
gocap atau 5 dan “Lat” yang berarti pendekar silat atau orang sakti. Jadi, arti nama Golat adalah
lima pendekar silat atau sakti. Golat merupakan salah satu wilayah dari kerajaan Majapahit. Ada
5 orang pendekar yang diberi mandat untuk menjaga daerah Golat, karena daerah itu merupakan
daerah yang strategis dan menjadi pos dari kerajaan Majapahit. Konon, 5 pendekar silat itu
dipercaya untuk menjaga pos tersebut. Suatu ketika daerah Golat dilanda kekeringan yang
berkepanjangan, banyak pohon yang layu bahkan mati. Akibatnya 5 pendekar silat sakti itu turun
tangan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yang sedang dihadapi. Mereka bertapa mencari
petunjuk dari Sang Maha Kuasa di tempat Sumberan. Setelah itu, ia mendapatkan wangsit bahwa
mereka harus mencabut sebuah pohon jati yang besar yang ada di sekitar Sumberan tersebut.

Dengan kesaktian 5 pendekar pohon jati itupun dicabut, yang akhirnya mengeluarkan sumber
mata air dari dalam tanah. Kemudian sumber mata air tersebut diberi nama “Cibodas” karena air
yang keluar sangatlah bening dan bersih sekali. Kini air yang keluar dari sumber mata air itu
dapat mengaliri seluruh wilayah khususnya daerah Golat. Akhirnya Desa Golat menjadi subur
dan makmur.

West Java. Geographically, Golat Village is considered quite strategic because it is a link
between Warudoyong and Panumbangan areas. The Golat area is in the lowlands, surrounded by
Gunung Sawal which is one of the springs in the Panumbangan sub-district. This is a unique
feature of Golat Village compared to other villages.

According to stories from people in the village the name Golat comes from the word "Go"

Majapahit kingdom. There are 5 warriors who are mandated to guard the Golat area, because the

were believed to guard the post. Once the Golat area was hit by a prolonged drought, many trees
withered and even died. As a result, 5 powerful martial arts warriors intervened to solve the
problem at hand. They meditated in search of clues from the Almighty in the place of Sumberan.
After that, he got wangsit that they had to pull out a large teak tree that was around the
Sumberan.

With the miracle 5 swords of teak trees were lifted, which finally issued a spring from the
ground. Then the source of the spring was named "Cibodas" because the water that came out was
very clear and very clean. Now the water that comes out of the source of the spring can flow
throughout the area, especially the Golat area. Finally Golat Village became fertile and
prosperous.
