The project that was given by the lecturer is to make a bench that can be used by all folks of life. In this topic, we will discuss about the steps on how to do the wooden bench.
Therefore we came out with the idea of making the most simplest yet elegant bench by using wood. The
advantages of wood are commonly bacause of their strength and durability. Wooden furniture requires Step 1: Cut the timber
less maintenance and provides long-lasting natural material that can stand spills and scratches. Timber were cut according to preferred sizes. Table 1 is the size and cut list of pine wood that we
used for this project.
As of our project, we decided to use pine wood. Pine wood itself is used for a wide range of
construction projects as it has the strengh to support a residential frame construction. Pine wood also Table 1: Timber used

All the cut pine woods in 300 mm were assembled to shape them into a box-like bench
attached to the seat frame support made previously.
Step 8. Attach the seat back with back leg support to the bench
Step 6. Repeatability
Step 3 to Step 6 were repeated to make another bench.
The two components were puzzled together to complete the bench entirely.
DISCUSSION 1. Finishing
There are a lot of varieties of woods that being offered and each type has its own advantages.
In our project, shellac finish has been used for our wooden furniture. One of the outstanding qualities
There are two types of wood, which are hardwood and softwood. For our project, we used softwood which is

The brush used to apply shellac to the wood surface. It is usually made by clamping the bristles to a
handle with a ferrule.
We use pallet wood as our main material for our chair. Nowadays, pallet wood is well-known

2. Nail
Sandpaper is a type of coated abrasive that consists of sheets of paper with abrasive material like
aluminum oxide or silicon oxide glued to one face. It is produced in a range of grit sizes and is used to remove
material from surfaces, either to make them smoother, to remove a layer of material, or sometimes to make the

Shellac is used on the chair to provide color variety, protecting and maintaining wood surfaces. It is
the central element of the traditional method of finishing furniture. Shellac creates a warmth and depth that
