Russian as a Foreign Language Preparatory Courses

Russian as a Foreign Language Preparatory Courses (PC) have been offered since
1999. They are taught by highly qualified teachers, specialists in Russian philology. The
courses can be taken by foreign nationals, regardless of their age and education. There are
private/one-on-one lessons and group lessons (up to five people in a group).
Admission to and expulsion from the PC take place by order of the President of the
University. To be admitted to the courses, the following documents need to be provided:

1) A copy of your passport (first page of the personal data and the current valid visa
and registration);
2) 3 photos (size 3x4);
3) A copy of the payment receipt
4) Medical certificate (form 0.8.6 / Y)
5) Completed personal profile (to be taken from PC secretary)
6) Contract (to be prepared jointly with PC secretary)

Course start time:

Group lessons begin as soon as the groups are formed. Class time is subject to
agreement among all the group members and the teacher. Academic year normally begins in
September.

Tuition fees:

A total of 560 hours of classes (9-10 25 000 soms (≈ $ 540)

Payment for the selected class should be made at once and in full.
The full program of study is designed for a year; however, it can be shortened due to
students’ financial resources and time availability.

Language levels:

Teachers work with foreign students from the elementary level of language
proficiency (so-called "zero" level) and up to TORFL-3. Mastery of knowledge depends on
your diligence, dedication, and of course, your desire to learn Russian.

Exams:

Students who have successfully completed a course are allowed to take final exams in
Russian. Foreign students who have finished a course of 360 hours or more and have passed
final exams successfully will receive a certificate. This certificate is required for admission to
the University.
Schedule of final exams is brought to the attention of PC students no later than 10 days
prior to their administration. It is not permitted to retake final exams to improve your grade.

Visa support:

- PC do not prepare invitation letters; therefore, foreign nationals who already have a
visa to the Kyrgyz Republic can be admitted to the courses;
- PC secretary assists foreign nationals in extending visas and registration if they have
a category «S» («Study») visa. Other categories of visas cannot be extended by PC secretary;
- Extension of student visa and registration usually takes a month;
- Student Visa is issued for a period of 6 months (subject to the terms of the contract
signed). If students pay for one academic year, they receive 2 visas sequentially;
- If there is less than a month left before your visa expires, you have to pay a penalty
(1000 soms ≈ $ 22) and obtain a report from the police. Only then can you apply for a new
visa.
- Important! Make sure that your passport is valid for more than a year!

Preparatory Courses do not provide:

- A hostel;
- Transfer;
- Medical care.

So your expenses include:

- Tuition (depending on the selected class);


- Accommodation and meals (from $ 400 per month);
- Visa (≈ $ 60);
- Textbooks and stationeries (≈ $ 45).
