Group Charter

● Broad Team Goals


○ Mission Statement: The Vaccinators will educate the audience on the importance of
vaccines through the examination of the history and the various vaccine attitudes.
○ Correctly cite credible sources of evidence
○ Check up on one another in a professional manner

● Measurable Team Goals


○ Meet all prompt guidelines
○ When one group member finishes their part of the project, another group member must
peer-review
○ Meet all artificial and real deadlines

● Personal Goals
○ Stacy: worried about not being on top of things and has the tendency to forget deadlines.
Always on her phone but for professional purposes.
○ Amanda: may start the night before the artificial deadline, but will complete it on time
○ Ed: A procatinator and will try not to be.

● Individual Commitment
○ Violations: ​A five point system is to be used for violations to the group charter. A minor
act is worth one point. A more major violation is worth two points. A fundamentally
flawed violation will result in five points. Once five points are rewarded, the group
member will be reported to Dr. Bruce. Once points are decided to be given out, the mean
of the other group members are the points to be rewarded.
○ Attendance​: Group members must come to every class. Extenuating circumstances will
be reviewed by group members in the following situations. Extenuating circumstances
are illness, failure of transportation, and significant emergency. Other unlisted events
causing failure of attendance may by appealed under the purview of other group
members. Attendance violations are one point.
○ Shared Communications: ​Email and group chat via texting are considered available
shared communications methods. Emails must be responded to by 12 hours. Emails must
explicitly state if a response is necessary. Group chats via text messages need to be
responded to by 4 hours. Group chats must be responded to, in same fashion.
■ Hours are to be counted from the time the email or text was sent. Hours from
10:00 PM to 8:00 AM do not add to the hours counted.
■ A break in communications, such as network drop or cellular phone failure, must
be reported to the other group members in a timely matter. A late message
violation as a result in a break in communication will result in a review by the
group members if any points should be rewarded.
■ Failure in response will be rewarded points based on the significance of the
message.
○ Alterations: ​Changes to the group charter may be permitted only when (1) unanimous
agreement to alterations (2) alterations do not supercede the greater good, referring to the
general quality of the assignment (3) alterations do not contradict existing

● Other Concerns
○ Stacy: I have high anxiety and on occasion will have mental breakdowns. I am
completely unavailable on Tuesdays due to outside job and classes. For this semester I
am enrolled in three separate labs in which are time consuming and require much
attention.
○ Amanda: I am taking seven classes, writing my thesis, conducting research, and studying
for the GRE and thus may fall behind on this project, but expect my teammates to check
up on me.
○ Ed: I am constantly occupied with employment outside of school and is enrolled in 18
units.

● Conflict Resolution
○ A point system will be utilized to decide punishment. (​See Violations)​ Once five points
are rewarded, Dr. Bruce will be consulted.

● Missed Deadlines
○ All official deadlines set by Dr. Bruce will be brought forward into an artificial deadline.
This artificial deadline will be 24 hours before class starts.

● Unacceptable Work
○ Not meeting the artificial deadlines set by the teammates
■ Not meeting the deadline includes: not turning in any material, turning in
incomplete material (less than 90% complete/missing details/not meeting the
prompt criteria)
○ Not meeting the deadlines set by Dr. Bruce
