are compact for high power transmission. The design capacity of the same size of gears can
be further improved by direct design method adapting area of existence procedure. As the
fillet stress values are lesser in the asymmetric helical gear designed through direct design
method than that of asymmetric helical gear designed through conventional method, the
asymmetric helical gears through direct design also explored.
Arthritis of the hand can make simple motions such as gripping an object or turning
a key painful, if not impossible. Soft Flexible Joint Implant can help alleviate the disabling
effects of this disease. By incorporating advanced materials, extensive clinical experience
and joint specific design features, these implants offer today’s hand surgeon advantages not
currently available in other joint prostheses.
In this project work, an attempt has been made to develop an appropriate finger
joint implant by using medical grade SIBS-30A. The biocompatibility, Hemolysis and flex
resistance tests were performed in this work. The implant model was designed by using
Pro–E software and it was fabricated by injection molding. From this work, SIBS 30 showed
good biocompatibility with no adverse biological effects and the tear strength of SIBS 30 is
two times higher than the silicone rubber.
