HISTORIA DE TRUJILLO

Trujillo, Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera. Ubicada en la parte noreste de Perú, es la capital del departamento
de La Libertad.
Trujillo, se halla próxima a las costas del océano Pacífico, en una región costera desértica.
Fundada en 1534 por Miguel de Estete y bien fortificada para evitar el asalto de los piratas.
Fue capital provisional de Perú durante su independencia.

Funciona como centro comercial de la región La Libertad, donde se cultiva caña de azúcar y arroz. Es,
además, un centro de distribución de mercancías y cuenta con establecimientos de los sectores

HISTORY OF TRUJILLO
Trujillo, City of Eternal Spring. Located in the northeastern part of Peru, it is the capital of the department of
La Libertad.
Trujillo, is found near the coasts of the Pacific Ocean, in a coastal desert region.
Founded in 1534 by Miguel de Estete and well fortified to avoid the assault of the pirates.
It was provisional capital of Peru during its independence.

It works as a commercial center in the La Libertad region, where sugarcane and rice are grown. It is also a
distribution center for merchandise and has establishments in the sectors

CUSTOMS
1. National Marinera Contest: (January / February), takes place in Trujillo. In this competition, year
after year, dance academies from all over the country and in various age groups participate. A
winning couple of the contest is chosen, a beauty queen and a prize is awarded to the best typical
costume
2. Carnival Of Huanchaco: (February) realized in Trujillo, district of Huanchaco. The Huanchaquero
Carnival originates at the beginning of the century inspired by the Venetian Carnival. The tradition
was updated 20 years ago and today it is celebrated with the election of the sovereign of the
Carnival, parade of floats, comparsas, people with costumes, carnival dances and contests.
3. Campeonato de Tabla Hawaiana (March) Province of Trujillo, district of Puerto Malabrigo. It takes
place on the beach of Malabrigo and has the participation of surfers from around the world.
4. International Spring Festival (September / October), held in Trujillo known as the "City of Eternal
Spring", celebrates the festival every September. During the festival season Marinera tournaments
are held in its many variants, Peruvian Paso Horse contest and the choice of beauty queens, among
other activities.
5. Feast of the Virgin of the Gate of Otuzco (December 15), held in Otuzco. The story goes back to
the sixteenth century when looters tried to enter the city, the settlers placed the image of the Virgin
Mary at the entrance of the city and miraculously the thieves retired, since then she was baptized
as Virgen de la Portería and later as Virgen de la Puerta.

Cebiche: is a fish fillet cut into pieces cooked with lemon, onion and chili pepper.
Dry Kid with beans: tender kid's stew, macerated in chicha de jora and vinegar with beans garnished with
onion and garlic
Shambar: wheat soup with pork, vegetable stew, cilantro and chili.
Theologian soup: chicken broth with soaked bread, potato, milk and cheese.
Trujillo beans: black beans with sesame and chili mirasol.
