1-What was/were the learning objectives/outcomes of the lesson? (Add state objectives if
known, for example, TEKS §111.4. Grade 2.b.)

The learning objectives were clearly posted on the board. Explain the properties of four basic
three-dimensional shapes. Recognize three-dimensional shapes in the world around them.

2-How did the teacher begin and end the lesson?

He great students and he checked class tidiness. Then he took the attendance. And he gave them
warm up questions to prepare them to class. End of the class he asked them questions about to
topic and asked them to fill exit ticket which contains questions about the topic.

3-What did the teacher use for teaching materials or instructional aids/equipment?

He brought 3 dimension items like cube, prism, can, ball, pipe ..etc, book, smart board,
computer.

4-Which instructional methods and strategies did the teacher use? ( lecture, inquiry,
discovery learning, discussions, games or simulations, demonstrations, cooperative learning,
integration of technology, socrative questioning, etc)

He used discussion and cooperative learning method. He has chosen two methods for students
who have different character. He did some activities with students and he gave them group work
and he allowed them to discuss their group result with other groups.

5-How did the teacher assess learning? (informal, formal, formative, summative, oral, open-
ended, quiz, feedback etc) See Chapter 8 for more information on assessment methods

He gave them written questions beginning of the class and he said during lecture he asked the
answer them. During class he used oral questions.

6- What can you say about the teacher’s philosophy/beliefs and style?
(Traditional/progressive, behaviorist, student-centered vs. teacher centered, authoritative etc)
He used student-center method. He encouraged them to talk in class and ask them any question
about the topic. Some points he used teacher center method.

7-How does the teacher manage classroom? Can you identify classroom management
techniques used?

He managed the in good way. When some students were making noise he used eye contact
method. When any student answered the question he encouraged them. He was saying them, “I
like your answer” , “your way is very interesting” …etc. He walked around the class.

8-Observe in the classroom setting and determine types of behavior students play when off-
task. What do they do when they are not paying attention? How does the teacher re-direct
them or get them back on task?

He brought some sweets to class. When he asked questions to students he used them. When he
saw some students were not pay attention he went to students and asked them very easy
questions and he gave them sweet to wake up in the class. Also he played small games during
class like 4-5min taking time.

9-How does the teacher communicate with students (verbal, vocal, meta-verbal or non-verbal
communication such as facial, body language, use of space, motion and time?)

He generally communicated with students with verbal communication method. He used body
language very active.

10-Who were the students in the class? What did you notice about them? (Background,
diversity, attitude, motivation, interaction, participation, etc)

There were 6 girls and 7 boys. Boys were more active them girls. He asked questions to girls
more than boys. Because he recognized girls are not active in class. There was no any disability
student in class.

11-What did you see that is effective in engaging students? What do you see that is
ineffective in keeping students engaged?

He graded the warm up questions. During class, if he got any correct answer or he saw good
behavior he gave them sweet. He used the technology very effective. He called active students to
play some games.

12-What are the two instructional strategies you observed and would like to apply in your
classroom?

He made to students into 4 groups. And he gave them some works and he asked them to discuss
their results. He used time method. Any group gave answer first, he gave price them.
13-What are two important classroom management strategies that you observed and would
like to apply in your classroom?

He brought lesson material from daily life and he gave them some items to check it. Students
recognized easy what he said verbally. I will use in my class. I recognized that when we use
example from daily life, students can understand easy. He gave them prices. When he got correct
answer he graded or he gave sweet. This method was helping him to keep them active in class.
