THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction:

Allowance it refers to the money given to students that shall be used for their daily needs

and expenses; it is given by their parents or guardian. An allowance is money earned or given to

a child at regular intervals to teach the child how to manage money.

Money plays vital role in every person’s life. It is the medium used for exchange, unit of

account and store of value. It is used to buy goods and materials that are necessary in life. It can

also prevent the suffering that come with poverty and hunger, provide education and even power.

Money is the source of survival. Money is a fundamental and indispensable tool to live in

materialistic world. In fact all people in different fields have their own ways to spend and save

their money.

Student on the other hand, learn to save their allowances as they grow and recent

different requirements in school as well as things they want to buy for their own. Budgeting is

one of the practical skills that come in useful for them. It helps them to attain a better

understanding of financial matters that would become handful in their future.

The significance in the discovery of how much a students from Senior High School of

Gerona Catholic School spends per week would let understand what kind of lifestyle majority

has. Upon the information, the researchers will be able to determine the same qualities of habits

that each has and the traits that will create the contrast between the Senior High course in GCS.
Objectives

The researchers seek to describe how much allowance are given to Senior High School

students in general, where they spend their allowance and how at the same time they budget it.

This will illustrate the attributes of the students towards financial matters. The study also aims to

benefit students, parents and the future researchers upon the information gathered on the end of

the study.

Statement of the Problem

The researchers target to present the allowance management of the students

In Gerona Catholic School. Specifically, it tries to answer the following:

1. Is there any difference of how much a Senior HS Student spends depending on their course?

2. Is there any significance on knowing how much a Senior HS Student spend?

3. Is there significance on how the students allocate their budget?

Significance of the Research

The study deals with the everyday allowance of GCS Senior High School students. It

seeks answers as to how and where the respondents spend their money every day. Considering

that money is an essential commodity that helps a person to run his or her life, this study is

significant for it will benefit the students, their parents and the future researcher.

 Students

This study is beneficial for students to appraise their practice of spending

money. First, this will inform them where students like them generally

spend their money with. Upon this information, this study can enlighten

them on how to use their allowance wisely.

  Parents

This study can benefit the parents by providing insights and information

about the allowance they give to their children and how and where they

generally use it. This study can inform them as to how much allowance is

accurate for their children to use it for their needs in their study.

 Future researcher

This study is beneficial for them because this investigation can be their

basis if they are working on a study that is somehow related to this

research study.

Scope and Delimitation

This research study was limited and conducted only at the Gerona Catholic School of the

school year 2017. The respondents of the study are GCS Senior High School Students. The

researchers have planned to survey whoever is available on GCS Senior High School Students is

the one to be asked. The method the researchers will use in collecting information will be

through survey. This is used to evaluate and estimate the amount of money students spend every

week and what they spend their money on.

METHODS OF THE STUDY AND SOURCES OF DATA

Research Design

The method the researchers will use in collecting information will be through

survey. This is used to evaluate and estimate the amount of money students spend every week

and what they spend their money on.

Sampling Plan

The researchers make use of Convenience Sampling, whoever is available is the one to be

asked.

Research Instrument

The researchers make use of Questionnaire which will be put across with the participants

personally. To collect more responses, assistance from friends and family were asked to allocate

the questionnaire among their circles.
