 FINDING OF THE REPORT

ABOUT SURVEY & METHODOLOGY:

 A Public Opinion Survey was carried out to assess the Political Pulse and
Trend in the State of AP on the eve of both Assembly and Lok Sabha
Elections. Political Trend Tracker Tool was employed with the aid of
specially designed questionnaire to understand the changing Political
Landscape in view of the Multi Cornered Electoral Battle.

1) Preferred Political Campaign, Appeal and Style

2) Preferred Choice of Political Party with Candidate in
Assembly and Lok Sabha Elections
3) Issue/s Influencing the Voting Behavior

 It is a huge survey covering the sample of 3,04,323 in the entire State.

Sample was evenly distributed and touched all the Mandals, most of the
Villages and towns covering moist of the polling booths in 175 Assembly
constituencies of 25 Parliamentary Constituencies.

 Enough care was taken to include all the categories like gender, age,
caste, education, occupation and income to represent the
proportionate sample.

 The gender-wise sample shows that the survey covered 52,1% males and
47.9% females. The caste-wise breakup of the sample shows that the
survey covered 16.4% of SCs, 7.1% of STs, 36.2% of BCs, 31.3% of OCs
and 8.9% Muslims and Minorities. But depending on the concentration of
minorities in each AC, enough care was taken to represent their sample.

 All the occupational categories like labour (26.1%), Farmers (21.1%),
Business Persons (20.7%), Artisans (5.4%), Housewives (9.2%), Govt.,
Employees (7.6%), Students (5.3%), unemployed (2.3%) and others
(2.3%) were included in the sample for survey.

 The income-wise categories of respondents in the sample are Poor

(25.1%), Low Middle (33.7%), Middle (37.1%) and Rich are (4.0%).

 The age wise data shows that 26.5% belongs to 18-25 age, 32.2%
belongs to 26-35 years, 36.7% belongs to 36 – 60 years and 4.6%
belongs to above 60 years.

 The educational qualifications of the sample data shows that illiterates are
24.7%, 17.8% studied upto V class, 20.9% studied VI-X class, 13.3%
studied upto intermediate, 19.6% studied upto graduation and 3.7%
studied PG and above.

RESULTS OF THE SURVEY:

Opinion on campaigning style of political parties:

 49% of Respondents were impressed with the Content, Approach, Appeal

and Campaign Management of YSRCP under Jagan Mohan Reddy. Another
39.2% Respondents approved the Campaign Style and Appeal of TDP
under CBN. Only 8.5% of Respondents were happy with the Campaign
Style of Janasena Alliance under Pawan Kalyan.

Preferred Choice of Political Party:

 With regard to the party preferences for Assembly elections-2019, people

in the state, YSRCP has vote share of 48.1%, TDP has vote share of
40.1%, Janasena has 8.2%, BJP has 0.7%, Congress has 2.2% and
others have 0.7%. Thus there is a difference of 8% votes between YSRCP
and TDP. In simple terms, YSRCP has 8% vote share than its nearest rival
TDP in AP.

 The Assembly Constituency-wise vote share of the political parties is

given in the end of the report.

Women Groups and their Preferred Choice of Political Party:

 51% of Non DWCRA Women Groups preferred YSRCP. 35.6% of them

favored TDP and Only 9.2% expressed choice for Jansena though it has
not announced any Agenda for them.

 45.2% of DWCRA Women Groups preferred YSRCP. 44.6% of them sided

with TDP (recent disbursal of Rs.10,000/- to individual DWCRA members
by TDP Regime) and Only 7.3% of them indicated their choice for
Janasena. In the overall category of women, YSRCP has support of
48.1%, TDP has the support of 39.9%, Janasena has the support of
8.3%, BJP has the support of 0.7%, Congress has the support of 2.2%
and Others have the support of 0.7%.

 Occupation-wise:

 In all the occupational categories like farmers, labour, employees,

students, unemployed YSRCP has overwhelming support of around
48% whereas TDP has 39-40% and Janasena has around 8% of the
votes.

 Caste-wise:
Among all the caste groups also, YSRCP has support of around 48% of
votes, it is noteworthy that BCs have shifted their loyalties to YSRCP, it
has around of 8% of votes more than TDP. This is going to be a major
factor to determine the outcome of the elections.

 Age-wise:
In all the age groups, including youth and old aged, YSRCP has 8% more
votes than other political parties. So, the perceived youth base for
Janasena and perceived old aged support because of enhanced pension
benefits is not bothering Janasena much.

 The Survey explicitly indicating that YSRCP is likely to win 123 Assembly
Seats. TDP may get 51 seats and Janasena is likely to win one seat i.e.
Gajuwaka Assembly Constituency. Parties such as Congress, BJP and
Others most likely have no chance in any of the 175 ACs.

 As this is a Pre-Poll Survey and as per the tradition of Psephology

discipline, the pollsters generally predict the range of seats for political
parties in the elections. As this tradition, this survey agency CPS predicts
the range of seats for political parties in the coming 2019 Assembly
elections.

 Vote Share of Political Parties for Lok Sabha elections:

 With regard to the party preferences for Lok Sabha elections-2019,

people in the state, YSRCP has vote share of 47.1%, TDP has vote share
of 41.5%, Janasena has 7.1%, BJP has 3.0%, Congress has 1.2% and
others have 0.1%. Thus there is a difference of 6% votes between YSRCP
and TDP. In simple terms, YSRCP has 6% vote share than its nearest rival
TDP in AP.

Seat Share for Lok Sabha Elections:

 The Survey finds that YSRCP gets 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, TDP
gets 4 seats i.e. Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and
Kakinada. Out of these 4, YSRCP has all the chances to get
Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada Seats. The voting preferences by part-
wise and Parliamentary Constituency–wise are given in the end of the
report.

Issue/s Influencing the Voting Behavior:

 The Survey finds that most of the voters i.e. 46.6% are keeping YSRCP
party and Sri Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Leadership while voting, only 39.1%
are keeping TDP party and Mr. Chandrababu Naidu leadership while
voting, only 8.5% are keeping Janasena party Mr. Pawan Kalyan
leadership, only 2.3% are keeping candidate in the mind, money factor is
only by 0.1% and other factors by 3.4%.
