This document provides instructions for creating a tire solid by revolving a sketch profile in 3D modeling software. The steps include editing an existing tire profile sketch, revolving it 360 degrees around the x-axis to create the tire solid, shelling it to a uniform thickness, and analyzing a cross-section view. The completed tire model can then be added to an example bicycle design file.

5. Using the View Cube, go to a right view. Note that you can move the tire around the canvas but it is constrained to the Right plane. Place the rear tire in the appropriate spot then click POSITION> Capture Position. This will put a Capture Position icon in the Timeline. Activate the Browser’s ME Concept Bicycle top level by clicking the radio button next to it; you can now see the Capture Position icon in the Timeline. Deleting or suppressing this icon will revert the tire back to the previous position. Delete the icon by right clicking then selecting Delete.
6. In the Browser, select the radio button next to
Tire:1 to revert the Timeline back to that specific component.
7. Click MODIFY> Shell and select the inside face
of the tire. Add a dimension of 1mm to Shell the tire down to a 1mm wall thickness. Click OK.
8. Click INSPECT> Section Analysis then expand
Tire:1’s Origin folder in the Browser. Choose the XZ plane then click OK. This cross section is good enough for the concept bicycle you are making. Production tire cross sections are obviously much more complex.

9. Use the radio button to activate the top level of the design. Go to a right view, zoom out, and Save the file. Add Version Description of “Tire Revolve” then click OK. Expand the Data Panel then click the version button to reveal the versions you have created. Not all versions need a version description but all the major milestones will get one.
