The Sūtra of Liturgy by Great Awesome Anger Ucchusma

All Buddhas from ten directions

Are the Wonderful Sages,
Who reside in the Bodhi-citta.
So, I pray Samanta-bhadra
To be Vajradhāra
To teach the stubborn ones.
Please show the Vidya-dhāra-rāja form
And use the Victory Dharma
With the Clean and the Unclean
To raise the True Words first.

The First Affair Dharma

Dab the ground with sandalwood powder
In the round or square shape,
In the East direction.
Then put on (the ground) a statue of Ucchusma.
Fill two Argha bottles
With scented water.
Burn incenses in all censers.
Prepare an empty bottle
In the altar.
(Before the ritual)
Eat or not eat
Clean or not clean
Bend the knees and pray five times
To all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas
From ten directions
Clasp the hands with sincerity,
Knees should touch the ground.
Now, I will raise my voice
To talk about the dishonest karma of many lives
And all of my guilt.
With sincerity,
I honestly pray for the attrition and pure emptiness
(Now the prayer forms the Three Clean Karma mudra

And recites the mantra 3 times: Oṃ_ svabhāva śuddha sarva dharma svabhāva śuddha-uhaṃ
Then with the mudra, touches the five blessing points: forehead, right and left shoulders, heart
and throat, each time recites the mantra once.)
Sit in the full or half lotus pose
Strengthen the Great Bodhi-citta
And never give up.

Buddha Kulāya Samaya mantra

Rub the hands with scented water
Form the Buddha Kulāya Samaya mudra.
Hands clasped, empty inside
Bend the two index fingers a bit
Tops of the two middle fingers touch each other
Put the two thumbs
Next to the two index fingers.

Put the mudra in front of the heart.

Visualize the image of Tathāgata (Vairocana)
And recite the mantra 3 times:
OṂ _ TATHĀGATA UDBHAVĀYA SVĀHĀ
Be aware of the Tathāgatas
From whom the halo will be emitted
And the light touch the body
Destroy the sadness and wipe out the karma
Raise the mudra to the top
And then release the mudra to complete the blessing.

Padma Kulāya Samaya mantra

Then, form the Padma Kulāya Samaya mudra
Hand clasped like before
Open the two ring fingers and two middle fingers
The same to the two index fingers
Like a blooming lotus
Put the mudra in front of the heart.

Visualize the image of Avalokiteśvara

Then, recite this mantra 3 times:
OṂ _ PADMA UDBHAVĀYA SVĀHĀ
Be aware of the deities
Of the Lotus Family (Padma Kulāya)
From whom the halo will be emitted
And the light touch the body
Destroy the obscuration, and be my friend.
Raise the mudra to the top right
And then release the mudra.

Vajra Kulāya Samaya mantra

Form the Vajra Kulāya Samaya mudra
Stretch two hands
The left: face down, the right: face up
Touch the right hand on the back of the left one
Hook the left little finger to the right thumb
Hook the right little finger to the left thumb
Like the ten-pronged vajra
Put the mudra in front of the heart.

Visualize the image of the Vajra Master

(It is confusing in this sutra, because there are many theories about the Master of Vajra Kulāya.
The most common is Akshobhya, Vajrasattva, then, it is Vajrapani, Trailokya-vijaya. Because
Vajra Mother here is Mamaki of Garbhadhatu, it is possible that Vajra Master is Vajrasattva)
And recite this mantra 3 times:
OṂ _ VAJRA UDBHAVĀYA SVĀHĀ
Be aware of all Vajras
From whom the halo will be emitted
And the light touch the body
Give the blessing, make a good friend
Raise the mudra to the top left
And then release the mudra.

Armor Protection Samaya mantra

Join two hands together
Form a mountain shape with the two middle fingers
Bend the two index fingers
Near the mountain peak
Stretch the two thumbs
Touch the five points
Forehead, right shoulder
Left shoulder and heart
The last is throat
To gain the protection

Each touch, recite this mantra.

OṂ _ VAJRA AGNI PRADĪPTĀYA SVĀHĀ
The powerful light creates powerful fire
Evils do not dare to disturb.

Ucchusma Heart mantra

(Not sure how the mudra looks like)
Form Virtual Fist with both hands
Two thumbs twist to each other
Hold the left fist with the right fist
Right index finger is straight like mountain
Put the mudra to the top of the head
Recite the mantra 3 times:
OṂ _ VAJRA-KRODHA MAHĀ-BALA HANA DAHA PACA
VIDHVAṂSAYA UCCHUṢMA-KRODHA HŪṂ PHAṬ_ SVĀHĀ
My head will be like Ucchusma’s head.
Apex mantra
(Not sure how the mudra looks like. However, this mudra is the continuation of the previous
mudra because the last is not released)
Bend the right index finger
Into the palm, then stretch the left index finger
To form the Apex mudra
Recite the mantra 3 times:
OṂ _ JVALA JVALA _ SARVA DUṢṬA STAMBHAYA STAMBHAYA _
DURDHARA DUṢṬA NIVĀRAYA RAKṢA _ RAKṢA MĀṂ _ SVĀHĀ
My head and Ucchusma’s head become one.

The Fifth Point Armor mudra

Keep the previous mudra
Bent all index finger into palms

I have the Fifth Point Armor (五處甲) mudra immediately

OṂ _ SARVA GAJAṂ MAHĀ-TEJAṂ VAJRĀŚANI _VAJRA-PĀŚA _

MAHĀ-PRAVIṢA, SARVA DUṢṬA, STAMBHAYA STAMBHAYA _ HŪṂ PHAṬ

Ucchusma Heart mantra (again)

(Not sure how the mudra looks like)
Clench the hands, with fingers inside
Open the palms and stretch fingers
Join the two little fingers to make a mountain
Bend the two thumbs a bit
Twist the two index fingers at the same time

I have the Armor of Fire (近申普焰) mudra

Put the mudra in front of the chest

Recite Ucchusma Heart mantra 3 times
My heart and Ucchusma’s heart become one.

Ucchusma Krodha-raja (also called Cleaning the Unclean) mantra

(Not sure how the mudra looks like)
Adjust the previous mudra, round the two index fingers.
Trying to stretch, they will join together
Like a needle, whose name is Bringing mudra
Recite the mantra:
OṂ _ KRODHANA HŪṂ JAḤ

Single-pronged Vajra mantra

Form the Great Fire mudra
Two thumbs are like needles

Recite this mantra

Whose name is Single-pronged Vajra:
OṂ _ HŪṂ PHAṬ PHAṬ PHAṬ_ URGA ŚŪRAPĀṆI
HŪṂ HŪṂ HŪṂ PHAṬ PHAṬ PHAṬ
OṂ JYOTIRNĀDA HŪṂ HŪṂ HŪṂ PHAṬ PHAṬ PHAṬ
OṂ OṂ OṂ MAHĀ-BALA SVĀHĀ
I and Ucchusma become one,
Sharing the same strong body.
Keeping it,
And I make the Vajra Peg

Vajra Peg (also called Vajra Dagger) mudra

The right ring finger is between the left ring finger and the left index finger
The right middle finger is between the left middle finger and the left index finger
The left ring finger is between the right little finger and the right ring finger
The left middle finger is between the right middle finger and the right ring finger.

Stretch the little fingers, index fingers and thumbs.

And have them touch each other to make three prongs
The two thumbs touch the ground
And recite this mantra 3 times:
OṂ_ KILI KILI VAJRA VAJRI BHŪR BANDHA BANDHA
HŪṂ PHAṬ _ SVĀHĀ
It will create the Vajra Wheel
So solid that nothing can destroy.

Vajra Wall mudra

Based on the previous mudra
Open the two thumbs widely
And keep them straight

Recite this mantra 3 times:

OṂ_ SARA SARA VAJRA PRAKARA HŪṂ PHAṬ

Sincerely visualize the image of an ocean

Which is huge and quiet.
Recite this mantra 7 times
To have the blessing
OṂ_ VIMALA UDADHI SVĀHĀ

Continue to visualize
From that ocean, Sumeru Mountain rises
Keep reciting this mantra 7 times:
OṂ_ ACALA HŪṂ

Then, keep imagine

On that mountain, there is a grave Lion Throne (Simhasana)
Recite this mantra 7 times:
OṂ_ ACALA VĪRE SVĀHĀ
On the Lion Throne,
There is a precious lotus flower, which has hundreds of thousands petals
Fresh, fragrant and pure
Recite this mantra once:
OṂ_ KAMALA SVĀHĀ

Inside that lotus flower,

There is palace, filled with treasures.
On its walls, silk streamers are hung,
Kanaka net is shown.

(Kanaka: 羯尼 - name of several yellow plants, e.g. thorn apple)

Recite this mantra 7 times

Thinking of the completion:
AMAḤ SARVA TATĀHATEBHYAḤ VIŚVA-MUKHEBHYAḤ_
SARVATHĀ KHAṂ UDGATE SPHARA HĪMAṂ GAGANAKAṂ_ SVĀHĀ

A censer in hands,
Recite this vidyā
Whose name is Road Ruling vidyā:
OṂ_ SUSIDDHI KARI_ JVALITĀNAṂ TAMUTTAYE JVALA JVALA
BANDHA BANDHA HANA HANA HŪṂ PHAṬ
A gate lock appears in the air,
And disasters will be wiped out.

Then, form the Precious Chariot mudra

To invocate the Holy Sage
And all of his fellows
How to invite depends on me.
Clench the hands, with fingers inside
Stretch the two index fingers, and let them touch each other.
The thumbs lean on index fingers
Open the wrists widely
To make the back of (hooking) fingers touch the palms
Recite this mantra 3 times
To make The Chariot of Seven Treasures:
OṂ_ TURU TURU HŪṂ

Remember where Ucchusma resides

In Alakavatī (阿拏迦嚩底 – a place in India)

Visualize that he is sitting on the chariot

Next, it is the invocation
Use the previous Precious Chariot mudra
Rise the two middle fingers and turn the thumbs inside

This is the Invocation mudra (also called Chariot Invocation mudra)

Recite this mantra:
NAMAḤ STRIYADHVIKĀNĀṂ SARVA TATHĀGATĀNĀṂ_
OṂ VAJRĀṂGNIYA AKARṢAYA EHYEHI BHAGAVAṂ _ SVĀHĀ

The Holy Sage (Ucchusma) is now on the chariot

The Vajra chariot (meaning the chariot of Ucchusma) now arrives
Use the Vajra Master mudra
To invite him to enter the altar
Clench the hands, with fingers inside
The right thumb is between the two index fingers
Rise the left thumb (From the picture, it is simply understood that left thumb is outside)

Recite this mantra when inviting:

OṂ VAJRA DHṚK_ EHYEHI BHAGAVAṂ VAJRA DHṚK
Then, rise the mudra to the top and make a change
Stretch the two middle fingers
Also with two index fingers.

These four fingers join at Right-Dwelling (?) (右居)

The mudra is like a slowly moving eye

That destroys all obstacles
Move to the right three rounds
Recite this mantra
OṂ_ VAJRA KRODHA MAHĀ-BALA KARA KARA, CCHINDA
CCHINDA, HŪṂ PHAṬ

Then, form the Vajra Net mudra

The right thumb leans on the right index finger
The left thumb leans on the left index finger, too
At the first line, on the root.
(The other fingers are same as they are when making Vajra Dagger or Vajra Wall mudra)
Recite this mantra
Wall will be covered with nets.
OṂ_ VISPHURAD RAKṢA VAJRA PAṂJALA HŪṂ PHAṬ

The Thick Fire Wall mudra

Stretch the two hands
Put the right on the left
Stretch the two thumbs
Move two the right three rounds

Recite this mantra

OṂ_ ASAMĀṂGNI HŪṂ PHAṬ
Outside the Vajra Wall,
Fire is burning strongly
That creates a strong boundary
Which is undestroyable.

Hold the Argha bottle

Near the right knee
(Before the ritual, there are two Argha bottles, one is near the right knee)
And rise to the forehead
Recite the Ucchusma Heart Mantra
And sincerely offer this water
To wash his legs
Then pray,
And say all the wishes
(Does that mean spraying water here?)
When the bottle is nearly empty
Put it down, at the old position.

Form the Padma Kulāya Samaya mudra

Bend the tops of six fingers (ring, middle and index fingers)
As if it were a slightly blooming lotus
Visualize that the petals are diamond petals
Recite this mantra 3 times:
OṂ_ VAJRA VĪRĀYA _SVĀHĀ
When the visualization is accomplished
The Holy Sage will be on his lotus throne.

(From this part, it seems to be visualization)

Then keep offering
Water with flowers,
The flowers that are ownerless,
To all ten directions,
To Human, Devas, also offer the incenses and so on.
Burn the incenses, and light candles.
Ritual parasols, streamers and banners
With drums, and music, and singing, and dancing
Hammocks, and treasures.
Precious bells are hung.
There are also white fly-whisks and wreaths
And wonderful fragrance,
And Kanaka net,
And the Precious Wishful tree.
Clothes, sky, clouds, even the kitchen,
All are fragrant.
The precious palace is decorated
With heavenly Keyūra and crown.
(Keyūra: One of the Heavenly ornaments according to the Vāyu Purāṇa. It was an ornament
used by the people of the Kuru land and by Śiva.)
With those offerings,
Suffusing the Nothingness,
Be sincere to visualize.
Also use mudra and mantra
To use the blessing of the Powerful Sage
The Nothingness Store will supply
The offerings to the Holy Sage.
That is the truth, no need to doubt.
Hand clasped, with tops of fingers crossing together.
The right press the left
Put the mudra on the top of the head
And recite.
(This mudra is literary named Giving-Offerings-to-All-Beings mudra / Vietnamese: Ấn Xuất
Sanh Cúng Dường. The words “Xuất Sanh” mean giving to all sentient beings. When the prayer
has no food or flower to offer, just form this mudra and recite “OṂ” once, there will be
numerous fresh and clean offerings to offer all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Vajras, Devas from ten
directions)
Then, use the beautiful words
Of Wonderful Vajra Praise:
MAHĀ-BALĀYA CAṆḌĀYA VIDYA-RĀJĀYA DAṆḌANE VINĀYAKA
DHRṚKTĀ JÑĀYA _ NAMAḤ KRODHĀYA VAJRIṆI
Bend the two index fingers and the two ring fingers
Then clasp the hands.
That is the Vajra Mother mudra

Recite this mantra with calmness 7 times

To protect Ucchusma
OṂ_ KULANDHARI BANDHA BANDHA HŪṂ PHAṬ
(This mantra is also called Vajra Mamaki mantra, or Vajra Mother mantra. So Vajra Mother here
is Mamaki of Garbhadhatu. Therefore, it is possible that Vajra Master is Vajrasattva)
The gem is inside the clasped hands (seems like visualization)
Recite Ucchusma Heart Mantra 7 times.
Press the left ring finger with the left thumb
Press the right ring finger with the right thumb
Use both hand to hold the gem.
In the mind,
There is a light like from the full moon.
When everything is ready,
Visualize the image of the Vajra Mother.
The mantra that was recited (Ucchusma Heart Mantra)
Gets out of the mouth
In the form of golden words
Which emit the bright light.
The words are like chain
Returning to the prayer’s mouth.
Then, spread on the moon
Fire wreaths
Whose color depends on the Yidam (Ucchusma).
Recite exactly the mantra (No explanation which mantra here. Possibly Ucchusma Heart Mantra)
Also, the prayer must show the great awesome form
(Which means showing the angry form)
And anger in the voice.
Each time finishing one reciting,
Count one bead.
Try the best when reciting
To enter the Samadhi.
The practice will be finish.
The beads is still in hands.
Like before, bless again
And take me back to my former form.
(That means when practicing, I obtain a higher status. Now the practice finishes, I need to
return.)

At the moment of Waiting and Observing (靜觀),

Thinking of the True Form (?) (實相)

When getting out of the Samadhi,

There will be golden mantra
From the mouth, which is like chains.
Offer that mantra to Vajra Mother
And pray like this,
“Pray you, The Merciful, take this mantra
And give your blessing
So that the effect of number of mantra recited
Won’t be lost.”
Then recite Vajra Mother mantra 7 times
To earn blessing,
And say this:
“All sentient beings
Have to suffer miseries
In the Bodhi (That means before the awakening, they have to suffer.)
I am equal to you,
I’m not the only awakening (Meaning I’m doing not only for myself).
So, I pray the Buddha
Help me get the achievement.”
Form the three Kulāya Samaya mudras
Like previous.
Next, protect the Yidam,
Form the Vajra Mother mudra,
Offer the Argha bottle on the left,
Say all wishes.
The ritual is not different from before.
Then, be sincere,
Form the Thick Fire Wall mudra
Release the mudra on the top left of the head
To be free from all mudras before.
Now, it’s time to invite the Holy Sage out,

Form the Entering the Altar mudra (降入道場契 - Don’t know what this mudra is. In 1231th
sutra, it seems to be like this picture

)
Snap the left thumb.
Then, form the Invocation Mudra
Turn the two thumbs outside (to form the Valediction Mudra).
Visualize that Ucchusma returns to his palace,
Which is like before, to give the protection.
When being outside the altar

Form the Tower mudra (印塔- Don’t know what this mudra is)

And read the Mahayana Vaipulya Sutra (方廣大乘經- Don’t know if it is number 275th)

And wish for the Siddha: Upper, Middle, Lower.

When passing the unclean places
Form a fist with right hand
Rise the right thumb
Touch five blessing points to have protection

And recite the mantra:

OṂ _ KRODHANA HŪṂ JAḤ
Māra won’t dare to disturb.
To bless the food
Recite Ucchusma Heart Mantra.
To change the sere flowers
Recite this mantra
OṂ_ ŚVETE KHADANE _ SVĀHĀ
To have nice sleeping
Use Vajra Mother to get protection (it is self-protection)
Use Vajra Master’s mudra and Mantra
To protect the place
Like before, form the Entering the Altar mudra
Press the right index finger with the left thumb.
The place will be clean.
OṂ _ VAJRA DHṚK
(From now on, in this book, when mentioning Vajra Master’s mudra and Mantra, it means using
the mudra and mantra OṂ _ VAJRA DHṚK)
To wipe out insomnias and nightmares
Recite Vajra Mother’s mantra 100 times.
When wanting to eat
Gather the food in one place,

Recite the Possession Mantra (vidyā) to bless (所持明 - Don’t know what this vidyā is)

To offer food to Ucchusma

Use Vajra Master’s mantra first
To bless the food.

Four Homas
Next, the four wonderful homas
That prayer needs to practice.
Performing Śāntika Homa
To pray for intelligence and longevity.
It is also to eliminate the disasters.
Face to the North; cross the shin-bones.
Rise the right knee and right shin-bone.
Everything must be in white color.
Clothes, food, incenses and flowers, soil,
And the candles,
And the mantra words
All are in white.
Recite the mantra,
Twenty one times continuously (in the Chinese version, it is 37 times).
Say the word “OṂ” first
Pray you help me (name of the prayer) eliminate all enmities
And the word “SVĀHĀ” at the end.
(Until now, the mantra is still unidentified and it is hard to say if this is Śāntika mantra or not.
The only source that share the same “content” is the 912th sutra - The Liturgy for Building A
Mandala Homa. In the 848th, 909th, 1075th and 1169th sutras, the Śāntika mantra is referred.
However, the 909th, 1075th and 1169th sutras do not mention of reciting 21 or 37 times. The
mantra in 848th sutra starts with “NAMAḤ”, not “OṂ”)
Chant the mantra in a low voice.
In the mind, there must be nothing.
If making the Great Altar,
The furnace must be in the round shape.
Inside the altar, put a wheel made from mud.
The Guardian must show the anger.
If performing Puṣṭika Homa
To pray for Five Abilities and the Moving Wheel,
(Five abilities are ability to see everything, ability to hear everything, ability to understand other
people’s minds, ability to see the previous lives and ability to move to anywhere. In fact, there is
another ability to master the self absolutely and avoid the reincarnation. Five abilities can be
practice by Devil, Deva, Fairy and Human, but the last one is only for Arhat, Bodhisattva and
Tathāgata)
(The things to offer)
Treasures, wheels, pestles, swords
And other precious things,
And pills, and eye medicines.
(The prayer) Faces to the East.
Everything must be in red color.
Use the same Mantra (that means use the same Mantra of Śāntika)
Do nothing different,
And say SVĀHĀ.
The wish will be true.
Pray in a low voice, and nothing in mind.
The Guardian must show the anger,
And the furnace is in the square shape.
Inside the altar, put a three-pronged Vajra.
If performing Vaśikaraṇa
To summon Human, Deva, Naga,
Devil and Unhuman,
Face to the West, sit in half lotus pose.
Modify the “OṂ” Mantra
And then say “SVĀHĀ”.
Pray you help me
Achieve what I wish.
Recite the mantra with happiness in mind,
The Guardian shows the peace or the great anger form.
Both can protect me.
The furnace is like a lotus with 8 petals
Blooming, showing its pistil and calyx.
If performing Abhicāruka
To defeat the evils or the bad people,
Who can damage the Three Treasures,
Press the left toe with the right toe,

Sit on hunkers (蹲居- hunkers), face to the South.

The Guardian shows the Great Anger form.

Use the blue-black color

Visualize the image of the Perfect Brightness (圓明- the perfect brightness) in my heart,

Which turns into the Great Sun Wheel (大日輪).

They are separated, not the same,

But shining like great flames.
Recite the “OṂ” Mantra
Don’t say “SVĀHĀ”.
Pray you help me, named (name of the prayer)
Complete (say the work needing to be completed)
And say “HŪṂ PHAṬ”
Inside the altar, put a single-pronged vajra
Speak the mantra in a loud voice.
The Guardian shows the peace.
When this work is done,
Prepare a place for Ucchusma.
Make a furnace at the middle of the altar,
Or outside, opposite to Ucchusma.

It is an Earth-Holding/Ruling furnace (治地)

(From description, furnace is the kind made by digging earth, not made from wood)
Whose size is about two hastas,
And shape depends on furnace mouth,
And floor’s height is about a finger.
(Because this kind of furnace is made by digging the earth, is that floor the floor surrounding the
furnace?)
In the middle, dig deep about one hasta
To complete the furnace.
The height of the edge is 4 fingers.
The edge is square-shaped, each side is one inch
(One Chinese inch is 3,33 cm. However, it seems impossible. In 889th sutra, the third book, it is
written that if the edge’s height is 4 fingers, the width and length are 8 fingers.)
That is the rule of making furnace.
Make a wheel and a pestle from mud
Put them in the middle (of the drawing altar or the furnace?)
Lather it (alter or furnace?) with Gomaya (Cow dung)
(In India, cow is a holy animal, and cow dung is believed to be the cleanest object. People lather
the altar with cow dung in order to purify the altar or throw it to furnace as a Homa offering.)
And with sandalwood, and so on.
The color is based on the Homa.
Spread kusha grass on the floor,
Cover the seedlings.
Two Argha water bottles
Near the right hand,
Cogon grass as burning object near the left hand.
Prepare some branches,
Whose length is ten fingers.
Wet the two heads of the branches
With butter, honey, milk and nut.
When there are half of burning objects left,
Use more wood to keep the fire.
Don’t use old wood,
Don’t use mouth to blow the fire (That means blow the air with mouth to make the fire stronger)
When the fire is lit, recite this mantra
3 times, to get the blessing,
OṂ BHŪḤ JVALA HŪṂ
With the fire burning,
Use Krodha-raja Purification mudra and mantra to purify.
This is how to form the mudra:
Two hands is shaped with their backs touched each other
Eight fingers (except thumbs) hook together.
Turn the two wrists
To make a fist.
And then, recite this mantra:
OṂ _ KILIKILA VAJRA HŪṂ PHAṬ
Then, invite Agni-Deva.
Stretch the right hand,
The right thumb faces the right palm,
Bend the right index finger like a hook.
Slightly stretch, and bend, and slightly stretch the hook three times to invite.

Each time, recite this mantra:

OṂ _ EHYEHI MAHĀ-BHŪTA-DEVA, ṚṢI-DEVI JASATTAMA
GṚHITVĀ DUTI_ MAHĀ-RAMA SMISAṂ NIHITOBHAVA AGNIYE_ HAVYA
KAVYA VĀHĀ NĀYA _ SVĀHĀ
After 3 times, Agni-Deva arrives immediately.
Visualize that he walks into the furnace,
Then, form the Samaya mudra (Not one of the Kulāya Samaya mudras)
Press the right ring finger with the right thumb
Stretch the other finger
(It is nearly like the below picture, but the middle finger is stretched, and right ring finger is
pressed with the right thumb)

Use this hand to spray water from the left Argha bottle
To purify the fire
Recite this mantra 3 times (spray the water 3 times too):
OṂ _ AMṚTE HANA HANA HŪṂ PHAṬ
Then, still use the right hand
To spray water from the right Argha bottle
To wash Agni-Deva’s mouth
Then recite the Mañju mantra:
OṂ _ VARADA VAJRA DHAṂ
Hold in the left hand a scoop
And a spoon in the right hand.
Scoop butter with the scoop.
Put the spoon down,
And hold the scoop with the right hand.
Recite this mantra,
And offer the butter to the fire:
AGNAYE HAVYA KAVYA VĀHĀ NĀYA DĪPYA DĪPYA DĪPAYA_
SVĀHĀ

When chanting to
Lengthen the sound,
Draw the scoop back,
And finish the sound.
This is to immolate Agni-Deva
Perform the immolation three times.
Like before, purify the fire
And wash Agni-Deva’s mouth with Mañju mantra
Then invite Agni-Deva to leave the furnace
And sit down at the South East position,
Also offer him the offering.
Then, invite the Vajra Master
To sit in the furnace near the prayer.
And invite Ucchusma
To sit in the furnace far from the prayer.
The two Gods face each other.
Use Krodha-raja Purification mudra and mantra,
And the Fire purification, and the mouth washing mantra
Like when immolating Agni-Deva.
At the same time, offer 3 spoons of butter to the fire,
Each time, visualize the body of the prayer,
Ucchusma and Vajra Master
The Fire, and Swords-Medicines,
All become one.
One form made from five.
(Five forms here are the prayer, Ucchusma, Vajra Master, Agni-Deva and the Homa Master – the
God of the Homa, also called the Protector. Technically, the Fire here may refer to Agni-Deva
and Swords-Medicines may refer to the Homa Master, because swords is drawn on the altar and
medicines are one of the offerings)
Each time, recite the Butter Offering Mantra:
AGNAYE HAVYA KAVYA VĀHĀ NĀYA DĪPYA DĪPYA DĪPAYA_
SVĀHĀ
The immolation is done.
Depending on work, use different homas.
Look at the burning place,
Think of spoon or spoon handling form,
Use a small, clean spoon.
When holding, stretch the right index finger,
Leaning on the spoon handle.
Press the right thumb
With the right small, ring, and middle fingers
(The above description is just one possibility. In Vietnamese version, it is stretching the right
index finger, press the right thumb with two middle fingers and two small fingers. However,
following that description will make a strange spoon handling form. It is because a finger has
many names and a name can be for different fingers. Besides, the spoon is always held in the
right hand, the left hand is for scoop.)
Each time reciting (the Butter Offering mantra),
Offer butter (keep offering 3 times)
Two Gods return to the altar.
Perform the Agni-Deva invocation again,
(use the mantra: OṂ _ EHYEHI MAHĀ-BHŪTA-DEVA, ṚṢI-DEVI JASATTAMA_
GṚHITVĀ DUTI_ MAHĀ-RAMA SMISAṂ NIHITOBHAVA AGNIYE_ HAVYA_KAVYA
VĀHĀ NĀYA _ SVĀHĀ above)
And offer 3 scoops of oil.
As usual, offer to the Devas from 8 directions,
Perform the invocation as well as valediction.
Modify the Agni-Deva mudra,
Bend the right index finger, touch it with the right thumb,
And recite this mantra once,
Agni-Deva will return to his palace.
PŪJITOSIMAYĀ BHAKTYĀGACCHA AGNI SVABHĀVANĀṂ PUNARA
PYĀGAMĀDAYA _ SVĀHĀ
Like before, get the protection
And the Evils won’t dare to obsess
(this mean use Vajra Mother mudra and mantra to protect the body, and Vajra Master mudra and
mantra to protect the place)
If dreaming of: Buddhas, Bodhisattvas,
Vajras, Devas, Brahmins, or lay Buddhists
Or dreaming of having rice, butter,
Milk, Amrit, fruits,
Or dreaming of flower gardens, or mountains,
Of towers or palaces,
Of sitting on chariots, elephants or horses,
Or white cranes, or peafowls
Or Garuda, or his fellows
Or dreaming of flying over oceans or rivers
Or in the midair,
Or flame over the body,
Or dreaming of listening to Buddha’s teaching
Or seeking for purification,
Those dreams mean that the prayer gets the achievement.

If dreaming of
Strangers, pigs, dogs, donkeys, or camels,
Or being near a corpse,
Or dreaming of Evils and terrifying beings,
Those dreams mean the objects keeping prayer away from achievement.
It is because of forgetting,
Or being against the Samaya.
Recite this mantra to correct the mistake.

MAHĀ CAKRA VAJRA DHARANI

(Not sure how the mudra looks like)
Form the Vajra mudra (Which mudra?)
Join the two index fingers
And put the two middle fingers next to each other.
Recite this mantra 21 times,
Which is called MAHĀ CAKRA VAJRA DHARANI:

When inviting the Devas from 8 directions,
(Don’t forget to) offer the offerings.
Depending on the work that need to do,
Use the right mantra.
When building mandala (altar)
And performing other dharma,
Offer the offerings first.
(The offerings) food, incense, candles,
Argha water, flowers, scented oil,
Show all offerings,
And there will never be an obstacle,
And all wishes will become true.
When inviting Vajra Master and Ucchusma
Use their mantras.
(This is the appendix written by Amoghavajra; he translated the sutra from a Sanskrit
version.)
In Butter Offering part, the ancients wrote, “wandering, plucking and throwing away,” (
逶迤搊擲) now it is corrected as “wandering around the wheel and throwing away,” (逶迤輪擲)
In the Lower Book (If a sutra is divided into many book but not more than three, those
books won’t be numbered but called Upper, Middle and Lower) the ancients wrote, “In the
Secret Words of Heart Dharma, if achieving Mang Luo Ye Bojia (莽羅葉博伽- not sure what
this means), getting the title Boja too (博伽稱- the Bojia title).
(The word博伽 in Sanskrit is Bhaga, possibly relating to Bhagavā/ Bhagavat/ Bhagwān)
In Duō lǔ sè jiàn (咄嚕瑟劍 - Is this name of a book?) blend the piece of incense made
from the resin of oriental sweetgum (蘇合香 – the incense made from the resin of oriental
sweetgum, also one kind of Chinese medicines)with canola oil, then throw to the fire 1008 times,
everyone will show their admiration to the prayer.
Now it is corrected as, “Blend the piece of incense made from the resin of oriental
sweetgum and alfalfa plant with canola oil, then throw to the fire 1008 times to have the Blessing
Appearance.”
The ancients wrote 4 sentences; now I will add more. The color is blue-black / Visualize
the image of the Perfect Brightness in the heart, which turns into the Great Sun Wheel./ They are
separated, not the same,/ but shining like a great flame.
