Notebook #8:
For this project, I was able to find an article from the Consumer Health Complete it is

called “ One Bad Shot” by David Crowe. This article is on why you should not receive the flu

vaccinated because it causes more problems in the end so there is no reason to get it in the first

place is what Crowe explains in his writing. He says there are better ways to deal with the flu

instead of getting vaccinated. For an example he talks about how important it is for you to take

other supplements and make sure you are eating healthy and keeping up with daily exercise. By

doing that he say that it can save you from the flu and any other diseases that can appear.

Although it is very important to do what Crowe said by staying healthy. Vaccines are the

number one solver to our problem of fighting off these infectious diseases. Now that being said

making sure that you are exercising and eating healthy food are super important in today's

society but overall making sure you're up to date on all your vaccines is the overall the fastest

and most productive way of protecting yourself and others from infectious diseases. Even in

Crowe work, he states this “ The flu vaccine Is promoted as a quick fix, but at best it only

protects against one health danger and doesn't correct underlying health problems. Getting

adequate exercise and eating a healthy diet supplemented by vitamins, minerals, and herbs will

improve the immune system to help protect you, and not just against the flu.” How he says that

by doing these thing it improves your immune system is true but it does not and will not protect
you from a disease entering into your body system. The only thing that can prevent that from

entering into your body is a vaccine.

The whole purpose of a vaccines is to get your body immune to the disease before it can

enter into your system. Not by eating a certain food or working out. That will do nothing to stop

it from entering and taking control. Even the most healthiest people die from a infectious disease.

One thing I found that stuck out to me was when he said this “ Even if the flu vaccine were

perfect and had no side effects, it would not be a magic bullet.” I find it interesting that he used “

magic bullet” as if exercising and maintaining a good food balance is a magic bullet.

In closing, after reading this article I found out that by getting vaccinated is the safest

way to make sure that you can protect your body from an infectious disease. By eating good and

exercising can help you but it does not save you from them entering into your body system like a

vaccine would do. I learned that it is way easier to get the shot and stay safe, instead of working

so hard on making sure you get enough exercise and are eating the right food but even then to

still be able to get the disease just like that because your body hasn't been exposed to the disease

like the vaccines do.
