It is more ethical to use humans than to use animals in different experiments.

With

humans, it is possible to ask for consent, or for fair reimbursement, depending on the

experiment. The only downside is that experiments will most likely harm the human, but with

the idea of consent, the human would be aware. Animals, on the other hand, would be subject

to the full effect of the experiment without their knowledge or consent, which would equate to

forms of animal abuse.

Most of the important experiments that are being done in the world of psychology also

impact humans. There are many issues involving animals that need to be investigated, but

humans are more complex than most animals. If you wanted to see the effects of a new anti-

depressant, for example, it may work on an animal, but not work in a human. Working with

humans on issues that directly involve humans is the easiest way to obtain more accurate

results.

On the whole, humans are also easier to work with than animals. Humans understand a

vast amount of commands and can interpret procedures that are given by a scientist or a

psychologist. Animals, on the other hand, or paw, cannot understand nearly as many

commands and might not be able to conduct the experiment. For example, an animal could not

understand nor participate in an experiment similar to the Milgrim experiment. It would be

pointless to even try because an animal could not comprehend the situation, nonetheless

provide accurate results that are comparable with humans.

On the whole, humans should be used in experiments more than animals. Humans

should be aware of the experiments, however, and should never be subjected to pain, torture,

or psychological damage in the name of science.
