Abstract
The client — Steiner Solutions, had zero online presence and business was based

on purley word of mouth from past and current clients. Steiner Solutions also didn't

have a graphic identity to disguise them and their services. A graphic identity was

necessary to grow the business and appear more professional. With the

knowledge I possess as designer I decided to assist with this problem. I started by

researching professional looking graphic identity packages. This led me to create

some earlier concepts for the logo and the website. I met with the client and

gathered information to find out the look and feel they were going for. This led me

to generate some concepts. Which ultimately led to a new graphic identity along

with a modern and easy to use website.

Executive Summary
Steiner Solutions is a consulting firm. The group is in the business of solving

problems in a variety of fields. Their mission is to provide solutions to large or small

companies, including both startup companies and existing companies or

corporations. They base their solutions on knowledge, facts, research, and

face-to-face conversations. Their goal is to ensure that your company’s leaders and

employees work efficiently and harmoniously to achieve the best possible results to

benefit both the company and its employees. For a company like this to not have a

website or even a logo it is tough to land potential clients without any graphic

identity or presence online.

The problem Steiner solutions was facing is lack of new business. Their traffic was

based off of word of mouth from previous or existing clients This is tough when

potential clients want to research you or the work you have completed. There was

nowhere to direct clients to. All communication was done though the phone or by

email.

This project established a baseline for an identity for the business. The package

included a graphic identity, website and a stationery templates. This was necessary

for the business to expand and appear more professional. The website was

designed to be easy to use and clearly show what the company was about. The

color palate is continuous across the logo and the website. Steiner solutions

received a logo, complete website, and a stationery package all designed to go

together, and have the same look and feel. The completion of this project many

steps had been taken to make sure deadlines were met and done on time. The

graphic identity was designed in mind of the clients wants and needs. Before this

project I did not have a lot of experience with a content management system, Wix.

My knowledge about Wix was not the strongest so I did a lot of testing to get a feel

for the system. This knowledge allowed me to create a easy to use website for

Steiner solutions. During the early stages there were quite a few different revisions

the client made. Some of the tasks that were needed were out of my expertise so I

called upon my peers to help me over the hurdles.

Problem Description
Steiner Solutions had thought about building a website for years but just didn’t

have the time or the resources to take on the task. This was a big problem for them

because new potential clients had no way to research the company online. Today a

majority of people use websites to research a business to see what they are about

and if they want to conduct business with them. Not having a logo or a website

really set Steiner Solutions back. The hope is that the website and the new graphic

identity will help grow the business.

The target audience is business owners. The age range can vastly vary from

18-80. The organization plans to extend nation wide so it needs to communicate

effectively. It will also apply to businesses seeking business advice or solutions to

their problems.

During the research process I found that most of the top consulting firms have

boring of difficult websites. Also it was hard to find certain information and it was

not clearly organized. Steiner Solutions wanted to have information front a center

what they did and why. This was not possible before this project since there was a

lack of online presence and identity.

Solution Description
The Steiner Solutions graphic identity package was designed with professionalism

in mind. The biggest deliverable of the project is the website. All of the content was

thought out to be simple and easy to follow. The client also wanted to leave the

door open so future clients would reach out for additional information to create

rapport with the future client. Initially Steiner Solutions did not have a logo or any

sort of graphic identity. The logo was heavily researched to project a professional

and trustworthy business. The goal is for the logo to provide a stamp on paperwork

handed to clients for appear as a respected business.

During the construction of the website a lot of things had to be built to suite the

look and feel that the client wanted. This took a lot of client communication and

patience since the client is based out of Southern California. The website was

designed to be elegant, simple, and professional. Wix made it very easy to drag and

drop needed content and forms. Using Wix allows the client to login from any

computer and change out information as needed.

By the completion of this project future clients of Steiner Solutions will have a place

to go and research about the company and have a easy way to get in touch. The

stationery package will provide foundation for documentation such as contracts

and proposals.

Methodology
To get started I first had to sit down with the client and gather what they wanted

and how to achieve it. We discussed goals dreams and what they wanted to achieve

out of this new graphic identity package. This was done by creating multiple

different style logos and website wireframes.

The achieve this quite a few client meeting were needed. This was done by using

skype which allowed us to speak face to face and I could show them the designs

and work in real time opposed to back and forth email. With the designs finalized I

worked on finalizing the project and designs. Once things started taking shape I

checked in with the client to make sure this is what they had envisioned and were

satisfied with the progress. Then we moved on to user testing which was done by

peers , friends and family all had different backgrounds and perspectives to ensure

there was no uniformity. This then led to getting the domain for the website and

setting up the host servers.

In order to complete the project I had access to necessary tools such as photoshop,

illustrator and indesign. I also used search engines to find and heavily research the

project.

Changes in the project

A project on this scale were bound to happen. My initial proposal I had allotted time

to combat this so it would not throw off the timeline. The client first chose a logo

and color scheme and weeks later decided to change the logo to an earlier design.

This was a small altercation that took a little bit of time to implement but ultimately

did not have a huge impact on the timeline of the project. Despite this the project

went smoothly and on schedule.

Budget

Macbook Pro   $2500  0

Adobe Photoshop  $700  0

Adobe Illustrator   $700  0
Adobe InDesign  $700  0

Timeline

This project was divided into two separate projects, Designing the graphic identity

and the website construction. The tasks often overlapped due to seeing how the

logo would look on the website. This often was due to show the client what the logo

will look like and how it will be seen on the website. I would estimate I spent around

170 hours on the project majority was spent manipulating the wix website builder

do make it do what I wanted.

Evaluation

This project was pretty large so there was several steps taken to ensure usability

and completion.

Functional Testing

The first testing phase was functional testing to make sure all the main links worked

and went to the correct pages. Mobile functionality was something that the client

really wanted to have so mobile testing was a huge. It was testing on iOS and

android platforms varying in screen size as well.

Usability Testing

I had peers, friends and family click through the website to see if any bugs or errors

could be found. If errors were found they were fixed and revision were made. The

site should be easy to navigate for any user.

Risk Analysis

There were many different factors that could influence the timeline of this project.

Some things being emails not being delivered or file corruption. Towards the end of

the project the domain was not transferring from wix to godaddy. It took almost

two weeks to find a fix. Thankfully for my time management skills this was not a

problem.

Collaboration Statement

Quite a few of the tasks required for this project needed feedback from many

external sources. While designing the initial logos feedback was provided from

some fellow Visual design students on what they liked and didn’t like. Quite a few

other students in my group were also doing similar projects which allowed us to

bounce ideas off each other. I was fortunate to find support and feedback from my

peers.
