Brakes - Loss of the Brake Accumulator Pressure (with Park Brake Off)

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE WHEEL CHOCKS ARE IN THE CORRECT POSITION. THIS WILL PRE-
VENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE AIRCRAFT, AND THUS POSSIBLE DAMAGE.

3. Fault Confirmation
Subtask 32-44-00-860-050-A
A. Test
(1) Do a check of the nitrogen charge pressure of the ACCUMULATOR-PARK, ALTN BRAKE
A ( 5426GG ) and the ACCUMULATOR-PARK, ALTN BRAKE B ( 5427GG ) with the gages Ref.
AMM 32-40-00-210-805 .

NOTE: Hydraulic fluid to a maximum of 100 cc is permitted on the gas side of each accumulator. It is
not necessary to replace the accumulator(s).

(2) If a leakage is found and corrected or an accumulator was replaced:


(a) Make an entry in the aircraft log to do a check of the pressure again in two weeks.
(b) Return the aircraft to service.
(3) If the nitrogen pressure is correct:
(a) Do the functional test of the brake accumulator system Ref. AMM 32-44-00-720-801 :
1 If the functional test is not OK:
a Do the fault isolation procedure in Para. 4. A.
2 If the functional test is OK:
a Do the fault isolation procedure in Para. 4. C.

A. Procedure
(Ref. Fig. Loss of Brake Accumulator Pressure - Trouble Shooting SHEET 1)
(1) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system
Ref. AMM 29-00-00-864-802 .
(2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system
Ref. AMM 29-14-00-614-802 .
(3) On the panel 117VU, set the PARK BRK switch to the OFF position.
(4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to press the brake pedals.

B. Procedure

CAUTION: A VERY HIGH PRESSURE CAN OCCUR AT THE PORT DURING THIS TEST.

(1) Do a check for leakage at the DUAL VALVE-ALTN BRK (5403GG):


(a) Disconnect the hydraulic line at port B of the DUAL VALVE-ALTN BRK (5403GG).
(b) Connect an approved drain tube at port B and put the free end into a container.
(c) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system
Ref. AMM 29-00-00-863-802 .
(d) Measure the leakage at port B:
1 If the leakage is more than 50 cm3/min:
a Replace the DUAL VALVE-ALTN BRK ( 5403GG ) Ref. AMM 32-43-14-000-801 and
Ref. AMM 32-43-14-400-801 .

2 If the leakage is less than 50 cm3/min:


a Continue with Para. 4.C.(2).(a).
Subtask 32-44-00-810-068-A
C. Procedure
(1) Do the Functional Test of the Brake Accumulator System with the Park Brake set to ON Ref.
AMM 32-45-00-720-801 .
(2) If the fault continues:
(a) On the panel 117VU, set the PARK BRK switch to the ON position.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to set the PARK BRK switch to the
OFF position.
(c) Pressurize the Blue hydraulic system
Ref. AMM 29-00-00-863-802 . Let the pump operate for five minutes.
(d) Depressurize the Blue hydraulic system
Ref. AMM 29-00-00-864-802 .
(e) Depressurize the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system
Ref. AMM 29-14-00-614-802 .

WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, MAKE SURE THAT YOU
OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

(f) Clean the disconnected line ends and fittings before you do the leak checks that follow.
(g) Do a check for leakage of the CONTROL VALVE-PARK BRAKE (4GZ):
1 Disconnect the line at port B of the CONTROL VALVE-PARK BRAKE (4GZ).
2 Measure the leakage at port B.
3 If the leakage at port B is more than 40 drops/min:
a Replace the CONTROL VALVE-PARK BRAKE ( 4GZ ) , Ref. AMM 32-45-51-000-801
and Ref. AMM 32-45-51-400-801 .
(h) Do a check for leakage of the Relief Valve:
· Disconnect the line at port D on the MANIFOLD ASSY-PARK, ALTN BRK (5439GG).
1 Measure the leakage at port D.
2 If the leakage at port D is more than 10 drops/min:
a Replace the MANIFOLD ASSY-PARK, ALTN BRK ( 5439GG ) , Ref. AMM 32-45-18-
000-801 and Ref. AMM 32-45-18-400-801 .
(i) Do a check for leakage of the Check Valve:
1 Disconnect the supply line to port A (on the MANIFOLD ASSY-PARK, ALTN BRK (5439GG))
at the T-Fitting.
2 If there is leakage at the T-Fitting:
a Disconnect the line at port G on the AUTO SEL VALVE-BRK (5202GG).
b If there is leakage at port G:
· Replace the AUTO SEL VALVE-BRK ( 5202GG ) , Ref. AMM 32-42-13-000-801
and Ref. AMM 32-42-13-400-801 .
c If there is no leakage at port G:

· Reconnect the line at port G and measure the leakage from port A at the T-fitting
· If the leakage is more than 10 drops/min, replace the MANIFOLD ASSY-PARK,
ALTN BRK ( 5439GG ) , Ref. AMM 32-45-18-000-801 and Ref. AMM 32-45-18-400-
801 .
(j) Do a check for leakage of the AUTO SEL VALVE-BRK (5202GG):

NOTE: If the AUTO SEL VALVE-BRK (5202GG) has failed in the open position, it is possible that
the leakage will be much more than 3 cm3/minute.

1 Disconnect the line at port H on the AUTO SEL VALVE-BRK (5202GG).


2 Measure the leakage at port H.
3 If the leakage at port H is more than 3 cm3/minute:
a Replace the AUTO SEL VALVE-BRK ( 5202GG ) , Ref. AMM 32-42-13-000-801 and
Ref. AMM 32-42-13-400-801 .
(k) Do a check for leakage of the DUAL SHUTTLE VALVE-ALTN BRK (5404GG):
1 Disconnect the lines at ports D and E on the DUAL SHUTTLE VALVE-ALTN BRK (5404GG).
2 Measure the leakage at ports D and E.
3 If the leakage at port D or port E is more than 10 drops/min:
a Replace the DUAL SHUTTLE VALVE-ALTN BRK ( 5404GG ) Ref. AMM 32-45-16-000-
801 and Ref. AMM 32-45-16-400-801 .
(l) Do a check for leakage of the VALVE-PARKING BRAKE OPERATED (5801GG):
1 Disconnect the line at port B on the VALVE-PARKING BRAKE OPERATED (5801GG).
2 Measure the leakage at port B.
3 If the leakage at port B is more than 10 drops/minute:
a Replace the VALVE-PARKING BRAKE OPERATED ( 5801GG ) Ref. AMM 32-45-14-
000-801 and Ref. AMM 32-45-14-400-801 .
(3) Do the Functional Test of the Brake Accumulator System with the park brake set to ON Ref. AMM 32-
45-00-720-801 .
(4) If the fault continues:
(a) Replace the IND BRK TRIPLE PRESSURE,BLU ( 2GK ) Ref. AMM 32-44-21-000-801 and
Ref. AMM 32-44-21-400-801 .
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Remove the warning notice(s).
(2) On the panel 117VU, set the PARK BRK switch to its initial configuration.
(3) Make sure that the accumulator of the Blue hydraulic system is pressurized Ref. AMM 29-00-00-863-
802 .
(4) Remove the container(s) used during this procedure and discard the unwanted hydraulic fluid in an
approved area.
