Good morning ladies and gentleman. My name is Dumitru Irina Petruta and I’m a 1st year cadet at the
Land Forces Academy

Today I will present to you sd.sg.maj. STOICA Bogdan from the perspective of a military leader.

First, I will talk about the evolution from student to leader

Next, I will describe sd.sg.maj. STOICA’s character and personality

Furthermore, I’ll tell you about the motto “Lead or to be led” from sd.sg.maj. STOICA’s perspective.

Finally, I will end my presentation with a conclusion

In the Introduction I’ve chosen a motto which best describes Stoica: “Before you are a leader, success is
all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.”

In the light of this motto, I will briefly describe some of the most important aspects regarding Stoica.

First of all, general data. He has 21 years old and he was born in Vaslui. He is a 3rd year student at the
land forces academy and also my deputy platoon leader.

Regarding the personality characteristics and I must say that he is a reliable person in any given
situation, likewise he is a capable man which can accomplish many things with ease and he is also a
confident man, which has the power to believe in himself.

Moving next to the physical characterisics and here I must highlight his oval face with beautiful blue
sapphire eyes, a thick nose and thick red lips. His height is medium and he also has brown hair.

Towards his character traits I must say that he is characterized by Integrity, Loyality and Determination
and we’ll talk more about his traits later on.

Moving on to the 1st main point of my presentation.

From student to leader.

Two years ago sd.sg.maj. STOICA was a 1st year cadet. Now he is a deputy platoon commander. These
two years meant evolution in his traits and skills.
In my opinion STOICA is an organized person and compared to a 1 st year student I can say that it’s two
steps ahead.

Another trait which Stoica has is persuasion. If I’d compare him with a 1st year cadet I’d say that he is
persuasive and the younger student is unconvincing.

Furthermore, Stoica is Self-Confident and showed this trait a lot during first weeks of training. A 1st
year cadet is unconvincing and has lack of trust in his abilities.

At the same time, Stoica is decisive and dominant, he usually acts as a true leader and everybody
reacts accordingly to his orders, but when it comes to 1st years cadet I must say that obedience and
indecisiveness are often met in their behavior.

Let’s go on to the next main point, which is called “Character and Personality”

A question often posed is who will succeed in leading others. Given this statement I want to highlight
some of the most important traits regarding character and personality of a leader which Stoica has.

I’ve chosen 3 positive traits and 1 negative to best describe Stoica’s character and personality.

In my opinion, most valuable character traits of Stoica are Loyalty, determination and confidence.
During my time in the military I’ve rarely seen men like him with such a strong feeling of allegiance for
the army and for the people.

On the negative side of his character stands “impatience” which derives from the will to do everything
as fast as possible and sometimes he’s losing attention to details.

From the leadership perspective, personality traits are crucial in order to become a military leader.
I’ve chosen 3 positive traits and 1 negative to point out some of Stoica’s personality traits .

I’ve come to the conclusion that Stoica is a reliable person because he showed me that he can keep a
promise whenever he makes one. Another key trait Stoica has is confidence. He believes in his
abilities, but he also believes in subordinates abilities in order to improve their knowledge and
behavior.

On the negative side of his personality is sarcasm (use of irony) which he manifests sometimes to his
subordinates in order to point out “bad behavior”.

All things considered, let’s move to our last chapter which is called “Lead or be led”
This motto should be on every officer mind. In my opinion, sd.sg.maj. STOICA is leading my
platoon very well, that means he is in a position of power and the motto “Leadership is a matter of
having people look at you and gain confidence, seeing how you react. If you’re in control, they’re in
control.” , best reflects “Shawn’s” leading abilities.
I consider that “Stoica” has some abilities that will take him on the path of becoming a true
military leader.
He is constantly motivating troops that means he always tries to keep a good morale inside the
platoon and he also reached our hearts and gained the platoon hearts, that is because he is kind and
generous and reliable on every situation.
Because of his determination we learned that it is important not to give up when things are not
going as he’d like and we should try harder in order to reach our goals.
Moreover, his positive attitudes makes us more relaxed and less rigid.
Furthermore, he is supportive with the platoon which means that we can always find
encouragement or emotional help at any given time.
Above all stands the courage that he has. In my opinion he is very brave. He fears nothing and with
this in mind I can conclude with the idea that Stoica is leading us.

Today we’ve talked about the evolution from student to leader, then we continued with aspects
regarding Stoica’s character and personality and ultimately we discussed about the motto “lead or to be
led” from Stoica’s perspective.

In the end of my presentation I must say that Stoica has the potential to be a great leader.

Today we’ve also learned that Character and personality shapes actions and attitudes

For this reason I conclude with saying that “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and
shows the way. “
