Dear City Council,

This is a proposal on how to transform the rubble property of 12171 Veterans Memorial
Hwy into a model of a Google campus. This will repurpose the lot into a functional part of the
community, allowing for the community to grow in all areas.
The largest foundation will be made into the main lab of the facility, holding the
computer lab and workshop. The main entrance will connect to the lobby of the building, and
from there will be an entrance to the computer lab and the workshop. Visitors must present a
form of identification that they have previously registered with. If the visitor is a student, they
would be required to show a student ID or other form of government identification. If a company
or individual wants access, they are required to have a membership with the site.
The computer lab section of the building will be divided into two parts: one section for
individual use of the computers, and another for group use of the computers. Both sides will be
connected through a LAN TeamSpeak, allowing for communication despite the rooms being
separate. The network will work on a LAN majority and it will reach the internet through a
single port, which gives strangers in different rooms the opportunity to assist others in their
work. The Individual Computer Use (ICU) will be in a variation of the cubicle style for wire
management purposes. The Group Computer Use (GCU) groups the computers in such a way
that the groups collaborating can use a quieter tone of voice, preventing them from disturbing the
groups around them.
The workshop area will have small workstations in it, along with automated machines
with trained staff on the floor to help operate them. The automated machines can include (but are
not limited to): lasers, water jets, 3-D printers, etc. There will also be standard machinery and
miscellaneous equipment such as kilns. The workshop will be an area of creation and inspiration
for future engineers and engineering students. This area will also be available to the public, if
they have paid their membership fees. (This is anticipated to be around one hundred dollars
annually.)
The Tech Talkhouse will be a facility that can hold both small and large presentations,
and it will be able to hold Ted-like Talks. This area can also be used to train students, community
members, and staff on how to use the different equipment and software available, as well as how
to troubleshoot them. The students and community members can also use it to present the
projects they have made and receive feedback and criticism. If their project is well polished it
can be invested into, if a company representative is there and likes it.
The manager’s office is a place for staff, when they are off on their breaks. Companies or
individuals can also call-in orders. The orders can be commissioned to the students or to the
staff, so that they can gain experience doing the order. Because the office is on site, the manger
can oversee operations daily.
The park facility is constantly open due to it being a park. It will be connected to the
other facilities via hike trail or dirt path. It is me-ant to be a place of reflection, after working on
a hard project. A guitarist or musician can play there, only after getting inspected and going
through required paperwork.
Thank you for spending some of your time to read this, and please ask any questions you
have during the meeting and help me help this community.
Graciously, Antoine Jackson
