no one giving them a funeral, this poem could be seen as giving
tribute to those who died, anthem - it is a song of loyalty and
devotion or a piece of music for a choir
2. ‘what passing bells for these who die as cattle’ – this shows the
narrator feels that the war kills and dehumanises the deaths of
the soldiers who die in world war one. The narrator feels that
those who die are forgotten as evidenced by no passing-bells
being rung. ‘What candles may be held to speed them all’ this
shows that
