1. Surrounding the concrete with layers of waterproofing materials.

Membrane Waterproofing
2. Type of metal roofing which is it reacts, however, with dissimilar materials, lead-base paints
green or damp wood, certain wood preservatives, lime mortar, concrete, and other masonry
materials and must be insulated from contact with these materials.
Aluminum Roofing
3. Other than Bituminuous Cement, what is the other type of joint sealant?
Silicone Sealant
4. What is formed by rolling molten glass into a plate that is subsequently ground and polished
after cooling? Plate glass provides virtually clear, undistorted vision.
Plate glass
5. What is a glass unit consisting of two or more sheets of glass separated by a hermetically sealed
air space to provide thermal insulation and restrict condensation; glass edge units have a 3/16”
(5) air space; metal edge units have a ¼” or ½” (6 or 13) air space?

6. The scratch coat is then trowelled onto the wall surface. Just as soon as the first coat is but not
hard, it is scratched with a small rake to form a key for the second coat.
Average thickness of the scratch coat is 3/8”.
Stucco or Cement Plaster Finish
7. What are these made from compressed sugar cane or wood fibers with perforations on the
surface of the tile?
Cellulose fiber tile
8. Kind of transparent finishes when it is a resolution of resin in drying oil (oil varnish) or in a
voltatile solvent such as alcohol or turpentine (spirit varnish). It contains no pigment and
hardens into a smooth, hard and glossy coat by the oxidation of the oil or by the evaporation of
the alcohol?
Varnish
9. They have the ability of levelling brush marks, are more resistant to washing and rough usage,
and have a harder and tougher film. They can have either a glossy, semi glossy or matt finish.
Enamel paints
10. What is the use of soil, crushed stone, and sand used to raise an existing grade, or as a man-
made-deposit; generally used under footings, pavers, or concrete slabs on grade?
Fill materials
11. A constructed layer or facing of stone, placed to prevent erosion, scour or sloughing of a
structure or embankment.
Riprap
12. Wire-enclosed riprap consists of mats or baskets fabricated from wire mesh, filled with small
riprap, and anchored to a slope.

TRIVIA YEAH!!!!

1. Metal Roof and Lightning. Some people believe metal roofs are more susceptible to
lightning strike. That is not correct. The fact is lightning is equally drawn to other materials
and not only metals, although the latter is an excellent conductor. Lightning actually tends
to hit the highest point in an area.

2. Texture gives substance and character to the plaster surface. It can be used to
provide highlights, depth, continuity, segmentation, and even achieve the look of a
completely different construction material such as wood timbers, brick, or stone
masonry construction. Texture is achieved by selecting aggregate size, controlling finish
mix consistency, and using special treatment techniques during and after application of
the finish coat plaster.

Sample Textures
Color and texture add dimensions to your projects. To confirm the suitability of a desired
color and texture, be sure to ask your plasterer to provide a sample panel for evaluation
prior to starting work.
