Title: “The Dangers of Fast Food

TASK 1: R.A.D.D. RESPONSE 1 (ACCOUNT 1): BASED ON THE DETAILS PRESENTED IN THE “THE
DANGERS OF FAST FOOD”, WHAT IS THE CENTRAL IDEA OF THE ARTICLE?

I think that the idea that the author is trying to convey in “The Dangers of Fast
Food” is that fast food is dangerous nd not good for people's health. For
example, in paragraph 1, it states “Fast food can contribute to obesity and are
dangerous to people’s health in the United States.” Furthermore, in paragraph
3, it states “Fast food also contributes to an unhealthy society that is plagued
with high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart disease.” This teaches me that the
message that the author was trying to convey to the reader is that fast food is
dangerous and people should not consume it.

OPTIONAL R.A.D.D. RESPONSE 1 (ACCOUNT 1): BASED ON THE DETAILS PRESENTED IN THE “THE
DANGERS OF FAST FOOD”, WHAT ARE THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS OF EATING FAST FOOD?

Based on “The Dangers of Fast Food,” the long term effects of eating fast food
is having high cholesterol, heart disease, and diabetes. For example, in
paragraph 1, it states “Fast food restaurants contribute to obesity and are
dangerous to people’s health in the United States.” Furthermore, in
paragraph 3, it states “ Fast food also contributes to an unhealthy society
that is plagued with high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart disease.” This
teaches me that the long term effects of fast food is high cholesterol,
diabetes, and heart disease.

Title: GLobal Junk Food

TASK 2: R.A.D.D. RESPONSE 2 (ACCOUNT 2): BASED ON THE EXCERPT FROM “GLOBAL JUNK FOOD”,
WHAT CAN WE INFER ABOUT THE FAST FOOD IN FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS?

Based on the excerpt from “Global Junk Food” we can infer that
American styled fast food restaurants are going into other countries
and making people obese by filling their foods with sugar, fat, and fack
ingredients.
For example, based on the video, The Domino's pizza in India doesn’t
provide information about what is inside of their products, and puts
fake cheese in pizzas. Furthermore, the video states that, in Brazil, little
kids that are getting obese and addicted to fast food. Even kids that
are under the age of 2 are consuming fizzy, sugary drinks such as
Coke, and Pepsi, of which is not good for their health. This teaches me
that American fast food restaurants are going into other countries to
make people buy their unhealthy foods filled with fat and sugar.

Title:The New (AB) NOrmal
TASK 3: R.A.D.D. RESPONSE 3: (ACCOUNT 3): BASED ON THE CAPTIONS AND GRAPH IN “THE NEW
(AB) NORMAL”, WHAT MESSAGE IS THE AUTHOR CONVEYING TO THE READER?

Based on the captions and graph in “The New (AB) Normal” the message
or central idea that the author is trying to convey is that people are
making fast food portion sizes bigger and the average weight of adults
are increasing compared to the average weight of adults back in the
1950’s. The portion sizes of fast food is also causing obesity. For
example, in lines 1-2, it states”Portion sizes have been growing. So have
we.The average restaurant meal today is four times larger than in the
1950s.” Furthermore, in line 3, it states “And adults, on average, is 26
pounds heavier.” This teaches me that the central idea of “The New (AB)
Normal” is that people are making portion sizes bigger.

Title: “The Benefits of Fast Food”
TASK 4: R.A.D.D. RESPONSE 4: (ACCOUNT 4): BASED ON THE DETAILS PRESENTED IN ACCOUNT 4,
WHAT WOULD BE AN IDEAL TITLE FOR THE ARTICLE

Based on the details in Account 4, an ideal title for the text would be
“The Benefits of Fast Food”. For example, in paragraph 3, it states” Fast
food is called that for a reason, it is fast.” Furthermore, in paragraph 4,
it states”Many food restaurants are located in convenient locations
such as malls and shopping centers.” This teaches me that an ideal
title for this passage would be “The Benefits of Fast Food”.

Account #5 (Bonus)
Title: “The Benefits of Fast Food”
TASK 5: R.A.D.D. RESPONSE 5: (ACCOUNT 4): HOW DO THE DETAILS IN PARAGRAPHS 1-5 CONTRIBUTE
TO THE CENTRAL IDEA OF THE ARTICLe

Based on Account 5, “The Benefits of Fast Food,”the first few
paragraphs and the conclusion support the central idea since the
central idea is that fast food can be good for you if you make the right
choices And eat in moderation . For example, in paragraph 2, it states “
If you eat in moderation and choose healthier options more often, you
won’t see these side-effects.” Furthermore, in paragraph 10, it states
“Being smart about whow and when you eat fast food is another
important aspect of it. Doing it right can save you and your family lots
of money, time and still keep your healthy goals in tact.”This teaches me
that the first few paragraphs and the conclusion paragraph from “The
Benefits of Fast Food.”supports the central idea because the central
idea is that fast food can be good for you if you make the right choices.

ave you ever wondered what the harmful and helpful effects of fast food
H
are? Because I used to wonder about that all the time until I did further research
and made this essay. So if you’re still wondering, I suggest you read this essay.
During this unit I was able to research and explore multiple accounts about the
pros and cons of fast food, as well as the author’s perspectives and opinions
towards fast food. Two accounts that I found interesting was “The Dangers of Fast
Food” and “The Benefits of Fast Food”. And although by the names of these two
account you might be wondering what they could possibly have in common, both
accounts discuss information about fast food and show the perspectives of the
authors.
In “The Dangers of Fast Food,” the central idea is that fast food contributes
to obesity and can be dangerous to people’s health in the United States. For
example, in “The Dangers of Fast Food,” in paragraph 1, it states “Fast food
restaurants contribute to obesity and are dangerous to people’s health in the
United States.” Furthermore, in paragraph 3, it states “Fast food also contributes
to an unhealthy society that is plagued with high cholesterol, diabetes, and heart
disease.”Additionally, the author believes that fast food can be harmful to people.
Overall, the author was trying to inform people about the long-term effects of
eating fast food.
To add on, the central idea of “The Benefits of Fast Food” is that fast food
can be good for you if you make the right choices and eat in moderation. For
example, in “The Benefits of Fast Food” in paragraph 3, it states “ So eating in
moderation could save you lots of time to do other things in life.” Furthermore, in
paragraph 11, it states “Being smart about how and when you eat fast food is
another important aspect if it. Doing it right can save you and your family lots of
money, time, and still keep your healthy goals in tact.” Additionally, the author
believes that fast food can be good for you if you eat in moderation. Overall, the
author was trying to inform us about the benefits of fast food.
In conclusion, after reading both accounts, there were differences that
show opposing views. In “The Dangers of Fast Food,” the author believes that fast
food is bad for people’s health in the United States. On the other hand, in “The
Benefits of Fast Food” the author believes that fast food can be good for people,
and that you just have to eat in moderation. Furthermore, in “The Dangers of Fast
Food,” it is talking about the cons of fast food, while in “The Benefits of Fast Food”
it is discussing the pros of fast food. Based off of the information that I have
gathered, in my opinion, I think that fast food is a serious threat to people and
that people shouldn’t eat it.
